Dyson, a company known for its futuristic home appliances, has announced launched a new product that fits right in with its repertoire. Called the Dyson Hot, it is a bladeless heater fan that heats up the room using the company’s Air Multiplier technology. All you have to do is set the desired temperature, and the Dyson Hot will keep pumping out warm air until the temperature is reached. And when you don’t need it to act as a heater, the Dyson Hot can be a regular cooling fan as well ? however it all depends on the temperature you set and the temperature of the room.
In addition to being multi-purpose, the Dyson Hot touts safety features such as no exposed heating elements ? you won’t be able to burn yourself on accident, and it automatically shuts off if it tips over. And as the case with Dyson’s products ? it comes with a hefty price tag. The Dyson Hot can be yours for $399.99. Find out more.

What’s not Green these days? Samsung has released low voltage 30nm RDIMM DDR3 4Mbit memory modules aimed at the server market. They have the particularity of running at only 1.25V , while popular memory modules often run at 1.5V or 1.7V.
It may not sound like much, it’s a whopping 60% savings over the previous generation of 40nm 2Gb DDR3 memory modules. If you scale that over thousands of computers in a cloud or a busy server room, it adds up quickly in terms of energy, carbon footprint, and of course… money.
Ultimately, if IT managers don’t do it to save the planet, they can keep an eye on this technology when they renew their data-centers. For my part, I’ll feel good about knowing that my digital documents don’t generate as much carbon as they used to.

Google has just announced in its blog that it has enhanced some of its online services to become more accessible to members of the blind community. Google Docs, Google Sites, and Google Calendar now have improved support for screen readers (JAWS, ChromeVox and VoiceOver (Calendar only)). Users can now use screen readers to help them read, browse, edit and create documents and events. In addition to improving support for screen readers, Google has also implemented additional shortcut keys to help blind people use their services more efficiently.
It’s not every day we hear about such enhancements being made to help out the visually impaired, so kudos to Google for making the effort. Find out more about the improvements made to Google Docs, Sites and Calendar.

Quite some time ago, LG promised consumers that its highly successful Android phone, the LG Optimus S would be receiving Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It’s been awhile since we’ve heard anything, and most users would’ve rooted their phones and loaded up a custom Gingerbread ROM themselves but for those of you who weren’t in a rush ? good news. Staying true to their word, LG has released the Gingerbread update for the Optimus S (the Optimus one for Sprint).
Starting today, Sprint LG Optimus S owners can keep an eye out on their phone for the notification to download the update. It’s going to take awhile to roll out to all of Sprint’s subscribers, so there’s a good chance you won’t be getting it today – just keep your eyes peeled. In addition to Android Gingerbread, the update will also include some other fixes and improvements to the phone. As usual, be sure to backup everything on your phone ? just in case. Despite being an official update, you’ll never know what might go wrong. If you get the LG Optimus S Gingerbread update today, let us know how it goes for you.

The first few screenshots of Max Payne 3 were released two weeks ago, with a couple more last week, and now we finally have the first trailer that’s been released for the game, along with a short blurb describing the game’s storyline:
“Still haunted by the memories of his traumatic past, Max begins a new life working private security protecting a wealthy industrialist and his family in São Paulo, Brazil. When gangs target the family under his protection, Max is forced to fight to save his clients and clear his name, in a bid to, once and for all, rid himself of the demons that have tortured him for far too long.”
As if I wasn’t already pumped enough for the game, watching the trailer kicked it up a notch; March 2012 can’t come soon enough. Check it out after the break and let us know what you think:
