One For All Energy Saver Remote

One For All Energy Saver Remote

One For All's new Energy Saver universal remote control claims to make the world a greener place, as all it takes to turn off your entire range of A/V equipment would be to press a single button. Just insert the power plug into the power outlet, hook up to four devices to it (TV, Blu-ray player, PS3 and cable box, your choice), and you're good to go. The remote control will talk to the power plug directly, and its energy-saving button on the remote claims to help you save up to 90% energy. Perfect when you're in a rush and want to get out of the home soonest possible, and yet want to save the environment. The One For All Energy Saver universal remote control will retail for £39.99.

Coolkii launches StarKii

Coolkii launches StarKii

Coolkii has released its new range of USB flash drives that feature Swarovski Strass crystals all over - known as the StarKii. Unfortunately, the capacity isn't much to shout about with a maximum of 2GB. These will be available in France, Belgium, Switzerland, and Canada (hmm, all French-speaking countries here - am I missing something?).

Digital Canvas stuffs PCs into TVs

Digital Canvas stuffs PCs into TVs

Digital Canvas will be outfitting 34", 43" and 52" flat panel TVs with typical PC components such as :-

  • Intel Core 2 Duo 2.1GHz processor
  • 120GB hard drive
  • 2GB DDR2 RAM
  • Wi-Fi connectivity
  • 1,920 x 1,080 resolution panel
These aren't exactly cheap considering the amount of work put in, and the asking price between $4,777 and $7,777 is a wee bit too much for the average Joe in such times of uncertainty.

Atari Family Trainer

Atari Family Trainer

Are fitness games mere fads that companies are trying to capitalize on these days? Apparently so, as Atari will be releasing a new Wii game known as Family Trainer. Just like Wii Fit, this title aims to encourage users to be active in "wildly entertaining activities". Unfortunately for gamers who want to play this, they will probably have to fork out a premium for it as Atari will include its own version of Nintendo's Balance Board controller. Don't you think there are already too many peripherals for consoles these days? Sure the Wii might be small, but with Guitar Hero, Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii, those will take up a fair bit of space already in your living room. I hope Atari will scrap their idea of a separate peripheral and just stick to what's available.

Asus Eee PC 901 Coming

Asus Eee PC 901 Coming

While the Asus Eee PC 900 was just released not too long ago, apparently the Taiwanese manufacturer isn't resting on its laurels, coming up with the Eee PC 901. Nothing much is different from the 900, but apparently Asus has thrown in a new row of buttons between the keyboard and battery, along with a power plug on the left side.Guess the measurements were not tampered with this time. I wonder if the innards will be different.

Aliph Jawbone 2 Peek

Aliph Jawbone 2 Peek

Aliph's Jawbone Bluetooth headset is certainly a success since it was released, receiving plenty of bouquets from its users. Well, in the name of progress, I bring to you a shot of the upcoming Jawbone 2 which will retail for $129. Hopefully next year's CES will see free Jawbone 2s being handed out as I missed this year's boat.

AUO Ultra Slim LCD TV

AUO Ultra Slim LCD TV

AUO has harnessed advanced thermal and optical technologies to develop ultra-slim 42” TFT LCDs with LED technology. This new LED TV is extremely slim, measuring less than 10mm which translates to a whopping 44% reduction in weight. The highly efficient white LEDs also help reduce power consumption in addition to simplifying the driving circuit, achieving a high brightness level of 450 nits and a contrast ratio of 200,000 to 1. This will be mighty expensive, so you might want to stick to your decision of getting a standard TFT LCD TV in the meantime.

Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Xi2550

Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Xi2550

Fujitsu Siemens' new notebook is the Amilo Xi2550 that claims to "present entertainment without constraint". Inside, you'll find the following specifications to back up such a claim.

  • Intel Core 2 Duo processor up to T9300
  • Up to 4GB RAM
  • Up to 640GB hard drive
  • ATI HD 2700 graphics card
  • Intel PRO/Wireless 4965AGN chipset
  • 17" display at 1920 x 1200 resolution
  • Remote control
  • Optional Blu-ray drive
With a 17" display, this will surely run out of juice pretty fast, especially when you pop in Blu-ray discs or DVDs. For long haul trips where readily available power outlets are uncertain, I would prefer to rely on something with a longer lasting battery life like the iPod.The Amilo Xi2550 will retail from 1500 Euros upwards.

Panasonic Strada CN-HX1000D and CN-HW1000D

Panasonic Strada CN-HX1000D and CN-HW1000D

Panasonic has launched their Strada CN-HX1000D and CN-HW1000D in-car navigation systems for the Japan market, and both of them are basically the same units save for the different sizes. What makes this in-car unit different from all the rest is the ability to control segments of your home from the car itself. Take for example, the ability to turn off the lights, control air conditioning and even recording your favorite TV programs long before you have arrived home, all from the touch sensitive screen. This is made possible by a partnership with Softbank, DoCoMo and Au with a Bluetooth-enabled handset. Other features include :-

  • GPS navigation
  • DVD/TV/CD/MP3/RADIO player
  • Built-in hard drive
  • 7" touch screen LCD display @ 800 x 480
Don't think this will ever arrive Stateside though.
