Sony Ericsson release a new Xperia Play advert

Xperia Play commercial

Awhile ago, Sony Ericsson released a creepy looking advert for the Xperia Play Android gaming phone ? the one where the Android robot gets his thumbs. Well, if you’ve ever wondered where the robot’s thumbs came from, the answer is here. Sony has just released the prequel to that commercial, showing us where the thumbs originate from. Aptly titled “The Donor”, it continues with the edgy theme that was present in the previous commercial, so if you’re a fan of the previous one you’ll enjoy this one. If you weren’t a fan of the grotesque looking thumb attached to the Android robot, you can give it a skip. Hit the break to catch the two commercials:

Twitter shares pre-birthday thoughts

Twitter will be turning five next week – and it is a time of reflection and thinking about just how far they’ve come from their early days. Taking three years, two months, and one day for Twitter to hit 1 billion tweets, that figure is achieved in just a week these days. Other important statistics for the secret geek in you – Twitter gets an average of 460,000 new accounts created each day over the past month, while an average of 140 million tweets were posted per day. Boasting a growing workforce of 400 employees, where 50 of them were hired since January this year, it does seem as though Twitter is here to stay although the ceiling for their growth has yet to be determined. Do you think the microblogging site has a lot more mileage in its legs compared to Facebook, or are they two totally different creatures altogether?

Microsoft launches Internet Explorer 9 web
browser

The browser wars continue with Microsoft rolling out their latest masterpiece – the Internet Explorer 9 web browser. According to Microsoft, they’re extremely proud of this version since IE9′s graphics handling, security and privacy features finally made it stand proud in the midst of Firefox, Chrome and Safari among others. About time too, we say, since Microsoft has seen their browser market share dwindling each quarter no thanks to the aforementioned competition that has long proven themselves to be faster, more secure and better – even with a relative latecomer like Chrome from Google. According to Microsoft, they’re pretty proud of IE9 containing tools which will stop people from being tracked as they move from site to site, making it a whole lot more challenging for commercial firms to tailor ads to the specific habits of web users. Not only that, separate tools in IE9 make your web surfing experience more secure by keeping an eye on downloads in order to nab viruses and trojans whenever they try to sneak onto a computer. With hardware acceleration built-in, you can expect more visual feasts from IE9, just make sure you have at least Vista running, since this version of the celebrated browser won’t play nice on Windows XP.

T-Mobile introduces 10GB webConnect mobile
broadband plan

With all the (bad) news that is going on around us that might put a damper in your daily groove, here is something to perk up your day – we’re talking about T-Mobile’s introduction of their overhauled webConnect mobile broadband plans for both 3G and 4G-capable devices. This time around, you will get a new 10GB monthly plan, spanking new discounts for current T-Mobile subscribers, and the exclusion of overage fees. The last bit doesn’t apply if you opt for the cheapest plan though, so do take note of that. Folks who decide to gun for the 5GB or 10GB plan will need not fork out anything more if they go over the limit, although there is a very high possibility that T-Mobile might throttle your connection speed though.

Camcorder-packing lunchboxes

Camcorder lunchbox

Every time you pack a meal you made for a loved one, do you wonder what he/she thinks about your cooking? Since you won’t be with them when they’re having their lunch, you’ll never get to know how they truly feel. Well this new concept lunchbox from Japan plans to change all that. It comes embedded with a video camera that starts recording immediately as soon as the lunch box is open, recording the expression and reaction of the person eating the meal. While the person is eating the meal, he/she can also watch a video of the whole meal preparation process so they know the hard work that was put into the creation of the meal. A nice idea, but it’s going to make lunch boxes cost a bomb, not to mention turn them into hot targets for school kid thieves. Hit the break to watch a video demonstration of the video lunch box:
