For those of you who have a vague recollection of this particular device known as the T-Mobile SpringBoard, here is a little bit of trivia for you. This is the carrier?s version of the original Huawei MediaPad, where it was first released in November last year over at T-Mobile. Upon its debut in the market, we were happily dancing to the tune of Android 3.2 Honeycomb, a tablet-centric version of the Android operating system before Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich became the unifying factor for both tablets and smartphones which run on the Android ecosystem. Windows Phone 8 hardware to be released on
October 1st

The Internet is definitely not the place to be if you want solid facts that are unerring in their nature. Whatever you read online, it is always good to perform cross references and checks to make sure that you are on the right track, and I guess the same can be said for rumors and whispers of upcoming hardware. We all know that Windows Phone 8 is well on its way to the market later this year, but who would have thought of the possibility of an October 1st release date? Word on the street (from Pocketnow, anyways) has it that the “initial announcement embargo date” for Windows Phone 8 is September 30th, which happens to fall on a Sunday, leaving the logical conclusion of October 1st as a possible release date.

Apart from that, the rumor mill has been working overtime to lead folks to believe that there is a September release date headed our way, thanks to the efforts of HTC and Nokia – although the percentage of truth regarding those dates have yet to be substantiated. I guess all we need to do now is just sit back, relax and wait for an official announcement from the horse’s mouth itself.

Google+ vanity URL introduced

When it comes to owning a URL, I guess you can say that the impact of the right URL can be more effective than a vanity license plate, don?t you think so? After all, don?t you think that TheFacebook.com (which redirects to Facebook, btw) is far less cool compared to just facebook.com? So folks, brace yourselves – apart from winter being halfway here soon, you will soon be able to enjoy your very own Google+ vanity URL assuming you are famous enough, of course, instead of having to plug your Google+ account with a seeming bunch of gibberish.

Listen to what Google has to say about the situation, ?At first, we’re introducing custom URLs to a limited number of verified profiles and pages. But over time we plan to offer custom URLs to many more brands and individuals, so please stay tuned!? That is a very nice way of saying that if you are not famous enough, then you can forget about having your very own Google+ vanity URL. I guess in this case, only celebrities as well as large, well oiled companies and brands need to apply.

XBMC for Android starts to receive nightly builds

It seems that the word has gotten out from developers of the popular open source XBMC media center application, where they have managed to port this particular software to have it play nice with the Android operating system from Google. While the app itself cannot be downloaded from the Google Play Store at the moment, the source code is already readily available, and this did lead to some folks to make a compilation, which logically results in an installable pre-release version of XBMC for Android.

For those of you who absolutely need to remain abreast with the latest developments, there are unofficial nightly releases available for the XBMC for Android, thanks to XDA Developers forum member ?kemonine96? who is behind this nightly versions. Folks who want to perform a download will need to take note that there are a couple of XBMC for Android versions at the moment, so it bodes you well to peruse the list of supported devices beforehand so that you can know whether you should use the build for NEON or non-NEON devices.
