Rumors of a smaller iPhone, an iPhone mini if you will, have been going around ever since the iPhone was originally launched and now folks over at the Wall Street Journal have added fuel to the fire by stating that folks familiar with the matter claim to have seen a device that is about half the size of the iPhone 4 and is codenamed the N97. If the rumors are true, this iPhone mini will be only about half the size of the original iPhone and will only be around half the price. The phone was also said to be significantly lighter than the iPhone 4 and features an edge-to-edge touchscreen display, along with voice navigation of sorts. Aside from the iPhone mini, it?s been said that Apple could finally be ready to make its MobileMe cloud service suite free and that could be the platform that Apple will be using to launch its streaming music service.

VoIP network giant Skype recently inked a deal with a series of Wi-Fi networks so that they can offer roaming for its pay-as-you-go Internet customers. In a nutshell, this means Skype users are able to hook up to the Internet via a Wi-Fi operator partner in more than 500,000 hotspots worldwide. Paying per minute is more economical than per day or per hour, since you pay only for what you use, and with rates starting from £.04 /?.05/$.06 per minute (equivalent to £2.40 /?3.00/$3.60 per hour), it does seem to make good business sense if you require data connectivity on a sporadic basis – of course, if you want to remain online all the time, it would be a whole lot more prudent to look elsewhere.

You must be pretty naive to store sensitive data on a portable device that could get lost or stolen, such as a USB flash drive or portable hard drive, but then again some of us out there tend to take gambles with our lives. Enter the Hiddn Crypto Adapter to rein in those daredevils – this device will play nice with just about any other USB mass storage device out there, but is also extremely robust in its security. Basically, it is an intermediary USB hardware peripheral that requires you to connect it to your computer and the storage device into it before any data transfer can happen. Accessing it requires you to insert a special key card and keying in your password to have it encrypted or decrypted (it uses FIPS 140-2 Level 3 and Common Criteria EAL4+ certified Hiddn Crypto Module).

Geneva Lab has just updated their Model M sound system that caters for both the iPod and iPhone, which is a combination that most manufacturers offer these days anyway. Listening to customer feedback, this has resulted in Geneva making a bunch of modifications to the Model M, which include removing the device?s integrated CD player while throwing in their own TouchLight controls for iPod and iPhone menu navigation and control. Apart from that, additional features include a quartet of Class D digital amplifiers for 100 Watts of total power, a couple of one-inch tweeters, two full-range four-inch woofers, dual bass ports, an integrated, top-mounted Universal Dock, an LED display, a line-in jack for connecting other audio sources, a digital clock with alarm, a hand-lacquered wooden cabinet, a digital FM tuner with six presets, and a remote control for couch potatoes. Depending on your taste, you can choose from red, black or white colors at $650 a pop.
