MoS tries again with new PMP

MoS tries again with new PMPThe DJs under the Ministry of Sound label might be at the top of their game, but unfortunately the MP3 players that were churned out using the MoS license were nothing but poor. The tongue twisting MOSMP100X10 looks pretty slick at first glance, but a deeper probe at the specifications reveal that it does not have what it takes to be a full-fledged PMP. Sure, the 3.5" QVGA display, MP3, MPEG 4, WMA, and WMV compatibility is all good, but you can't really pack in that much media into the included 1GB SD card. For $292, you will be able to find much better deals elsewhere.

USB RoboDog Cam leashed

USB RoboDog Cam leashedNow here's a cute idea for a webcam - the USB RoboDog Cam. Somewhat resembling the extinct Sony Aibo, this uniquely designed webcam is connected via USB, and it comes with adjustable joints which makes it possible for you to conjure up different poses depending on your mood. Aesthetics aside, the USB RoboDog Cam comes with a VGA 350k sensor that is capable of 24-bit true color and a frame rate of 30fps. Unfortunately, the USB RoboDog Cam does not come with any wireless capability, leaving it leashed to your computer at all times. You can pick one up for $22.

USBCell idea arrives on cellphone shores

USBCell idea arrives on cellphone shores

Remember the USBCell? The very same company is now planning to take over the world by offering cellphone batteries that work on the USBCell concept. All the user needs to do is open the back cover, plug in the extendable USB plug and you're good to go. This eliminates the hassle of carrying your cellphone charger around on your travels, saving you approximately 5cm squares' worth of luggage space. I personally think that the company could have just come up with a USB charger cable for the cellphone, since removing the back cover of your cellphone can be quite the hassle. Not to mention, you can't speak into the phone comfortably while it is charging.

Keep it hot like Zidane

Keep it hot like Zidane

What's this - some sort of futuristic soccer ball that requires to be docked and charged overnight before the big match tomorrow? Apparently not, as its real identity is a compact, temperature-controlled device that helps keep your cold beers cool, while those who prefer to maintain a constant temperature for their steaming hot cup of java will be equally pleased with the device's performance. It is capable of holding up to five standard soda cans under each upward-facing pentagon. This Soccer Ball Drink Cooler retails for approximately $75 after conversion.

Evesham Sound Stage X1

Evesham Sound Stage X1

Setting up a home theatre system is not exactly rocket science, but it comes close. This is why the Evesham Sound Stage X1 doubles up as a TV stand while boasting an entire audio system consisting of a 50W subwoofer, 8 satellite speakers, an amplifier, and a sound processor. What is left for you to do is to plug in your spankin' new flat screen panel TV along with other entertainment devices such as consoles, DVD players, and MP3 players. Sound is projected on the walls from the X1 to give you that cheap surround sound effect. Oh yeah, having none of those pesky cables running all over the place is also a good thing. The Evesham Sound Stage X1 comes in a black piano finish (hello fingerprints) and retails for £299.98.

No gold at the end of this rainbow

No gold at the end of this rainbow

USB-powered devices are dime a dozen, and some of them are pretty useless, while others have a more practical ring to it. Take the Rainbow Pen Holder Clock from Brando for example. It is actually a pen holder with clock functions, displaying all the necessary information such as time, data, month, day, stopwatch, and calendar. Different colored lights will illuminate the LCD at timed intervals to keep you entertained once you've completed your daily Minesweeper run. This workspace accessory can be powered by a trio of AAA battery or hooked up to your USB port. It currently retails for $15 a pop.
