Cameras on cellphones don't exactly offer the best quality pictures, but that situation will soon improve with new technology from Varioptic. This new lens from Varioptic utilize a technique known as electrowetting, exploiting the way water forms a rounded droplet on a surface and going flat when some voltage is applied to it. Varioptic claims the new lens if more reliable than mechanical alternatives, boasting a shorter distance focus and faster speed when compared to a mechanical lens. High end camera cellphones sporting 3 megapixel lenses and above are the perfect recipients of this new technology.

USB flash drives come in many different forms, but some of us prefer to modify one for personal use. Why throw away a perfectly good Chapstick container when one can recycle it into a USB flash drive? MAKE has step-by-step instructions on how to do just that, including a LED light that shines through the bottom when the USB flash drive is plugged. After all, a Chapstick definitely ranks lower on a thief's wanted items list than a true blue USB flash drive.

Who is to say that physically disabled people can't mingle with the best when it comes to gaming? The problem was there wasn't any hardware that aided them to compete on a level playing field with the able bodied, but all of that has changed with the Gravitonus. This medical device can help paralyzed individuals control computers by using the Alternative Computer Control System which is already being used effectively by those suffering from spinal cord injury. The tongue controls the directional command module, in addition to another dozen commands. It will not get in the way with natural body functions such as breathing, talking, and fluid consumption. Look out, Fatal1ty!

Fancy having a clock in the living room that requires at least a college education to tell the time? The ChronoArt II wall clock is powered by LEDs, featuring pattern shifting art that is actually a timepiece. It does take a pretty detailed primer before one is proficient enough to tell the time, otherwise just treat it as a piece of modern art. For example, the time on the right is supposedly 12:59, but hey - whatever floats your boat. The ChronoArt II clock retails for $199.

Ask any woman about wearing heels and you will get differing opinions. Some say it is a God-send, while others cursed the pain that results from wearing a pair for too long. Trust a high heel sufferer to come up with a working solution - Footloose. This idea involves adjustable high heels which can automatically be converted into flats simply by twisting the heel around. The idea is already patented, so I guess it is just a matter of time before such a design ends up in various Hermes, Prada, and haute couture houses all over the world.

When I mention message boards, the first thing that probably comes across your mind would be your username and password. I guess the Internet generation has long forgotten about the humble messageboard in the real world that requires you to use chalk or markers to write down your thoughts. The Britenote Board brings a modern twist to old tech, offering a fluorescent market that lights up once the board is plugged into a standard pwer outlet. With a glowing note, it would be harder to miss what was written whether in the day or at night. For $17, you get the light-up base, removable writing tablet, and marker.

There is just something nostalgic about old school game controllers, especially those dual button joysticks that provided endless hours of fun and an ease-of-use that has never been seen again. Felipe Morales has designed these Hang and Play hangers that take the old school two-button Atari controllers and mounting them on the wall via a red plastic base. Unfortunately, these puppies are still in the conceptual stage, so even if you wanted to drop some dollars down for them, you will just have to wait until they are manufactured for the masses. Those with a penchant for D.I.Y. projects can always start off their very own versions after a visit to the local thrift store.

Warning: sensory overload! Thsoe who aren't content with their current displays ought to check out the new 21.3" Premium Digital Samsung LCD Center. This bad boy comes with an additional quartet of 17" LCD displays in portrait mode to give you some serious desktop space. Of course, those black lines separating the different monitors get in the way if you want to watch a movie across all five screen, but forking out $3,799 for the Premium Digital Samsung LCD Center sure beats paying an insane amount for a 100" plasma display.
