Robopong For Some Fun

Robopong For Some Fun

If you're a casual ping pong player who loves swatting around that bat on occasion, then the Robopong robot is just the thing for you. No longer do you need to pair up with someone of equal ability (or somewhere near your level), as the Robopong can be configured to spit out balls at varying speeds, along with a variety of spin and speed difficulty levels. The oscillating head unit will adjust the delivery angle to challenge you with a variety of directions, helping give your footwork a healthy workout as well. The Robopong comes with a 200 ball capacity, and something tells me this will get exhausted all too soon when you're having fun. The Robopong will retail for £599.

Open-Mesh Mini-Router

Open-Mesh Mini-Router

The Open-Mesh Mini-Router allows you to extend whatever Wi-Fi coverage you have in your home to perhaps an outhouse or a room in your huge home that is a wee bit too far away from the router to get any decent signal. This device allows you to run a couple of networks concurrently, where one is open for guests while the other is WPA-secured for your own personal use. Heck, you can even choose to configure it in a variety of bandwidth throttling and firewall options to make sure nobody abuses your goodwill while they're staying over. The Open-Mesh Mini-Router retails for $49 a pop, although you can find another 19 friends with a similar train of thought to pick it up for $39.95 each.

PSP Chotto Shot Rumored To Overheat

PSP Chotto Shot Rumored To Overheat

Word has it that the PSP camera peripheral known as the Chotto Shot could overheat and spontaneously combust, possibly causing grievous harm and injury to the user (while melting all your save games in the Memory Stick as well). It seems that a recall is on the cards, and even the reliable Play-Asia has pulled the Chotto Shot off its virtual shelves. If you want to take your chances, you can always check out willing sellers on Amazon who are not direct Sony agents. How many of you actually use the Chotto Shot for your PSP anyways?

Polaroid Has New Camera In The Works

Polaroid Has New Camera In The Works

Polaroid has not closed shop yet, contrary to popular belief. Instead, the once iconic instant photograph company is reportedly working on a new camera that will feature an integrated Bluetooth-capable printer - the 21st century version of the instant camera that shot Polaroid to fame many, many decades ago. Very little detail is known about this digital camera, but it will be able to print photos up to 4" x 3" in size. At what price point would you consider picking up this Polaroid when it is released in the forseeable future? Would be nice to see it take the route of a portable photo booth where you can insert your own special effects as well.

Braille Karaoke

Braille Karaoke

Karaoke was always thought to be a way to pass time while singing your lungs out with friends, but how about the visually impaired who want to get in on the action as well? They can take the other route of memorizing the lyrics, but with the Braille Karaoke device, things have changed. Now they can select from a huge database of songs, and these lyrics will be shown in the Seika Version 3 Braille Pin Display as long as it is connected to a computer or laptop via USB. The Braille Karaoke will be released in Japan sometime this fall, but there is no word on whether this will hit the international market or not. No idea on the pricing details.

Cigarette Box Handsfree Kit

Cigarette Box Handsfree Kit

Now this is one of the more ridiculous gadgets I've ever seen - the Cigarette Box Handsfree Kit. It plugs into your phone and you would look extremely silly talking to a faux cigarette box, no idea why that form factor was chosen. It also comes with an anti-electromagnetic wave capability, presumably countering whatever harmful waves that might cause brain cancer (for the paranoid, of course). Heck, it is even cheaper than what some cigarette boxes cost at $6.79 a pack, and you don't have to pay customs or taxes if you're bringing this through the airport security checkpoint.
