It was previously rumored that the HTC Droid Incredible 2 arriving on Verizon would be a world phone (a phone that can work all over the world) and now there’s solid proof of it being a feature of the phone. A recently spotted flyer/poster proudly lists “Global Ready in more than 200 countries” as one of its selling points. Verizon now has one more phone to add to its lineup of world phones such as the Droid 2 Global and upcoming HTC Merge. No mention of a release date or price yet, but it shouldn’t be too far away now. Any takers for this Android world phone?

Google’s URL shortener, goo.gl has just been updated with some new features to make life easier. Folks who are constantly tweeting will be glad for these new features. When a URL is shortened, the new shortened address is automatically highlighted so users can easily copy it by just pressing CTRL+C or CMD+C on their keyboard. The link dashboard can now be cleaned up ? if there’s a URL which you don’t want to use anymore, you can easily remove it from your dashboard (note: the link will still work, you just won’t see it anymore). Google has also set up goo.gl/spam-report for folks to report goo.gl URLs that send them to spam sites. How many of you use goo.gl over other URL shortening services?

Spotify, the music streaming service that is based on the freemium model (free usage of the service, but paying gets more benefits) might be cutting back the features of its free service in order to push them towards getting a paid account. According to reports, Spotify will be imposing new limits as soon as this week. The limits will cap the amount of times a user can listen to the same song, and limit the number of hours they can access the free service. Last May, Spotify capped the service for the first time to a limit of 20 hours of free song listening per month, and it looks like they might lower it yet again. It looks like the revenue generated from ads on the free service aren’t enough to cover costs. No official word of when Spotify will hit the US either, but here’s to hoping it’ll be sooner than later. Would you pay for a service like Spotify or do you prefer to have your music downloaded and stored onto your phone?

At MIX11, Microsoft were showing off how fast the web browser on Windows Phone 7 was supposed to be. They pitted the iPhone 4 and Nexus S against a WP7 phone with the Mango update by running a HTML5 rendering test on all 3 phones. Unsurprisingly, the WP7 phone came in first (it was a Microsoft event after all) with Android close at its heels in second place and iOS in last place. Regardless of whether this is true or not, Microsoft was also comparing with the browsers against the stock browser in Android which isn’t known to be the best or fastest browser available on the operating system. And with the speed test site being a Microsoft-designed website, who’s to say that it wasn’t designed to be biased? When Mango is released, we’ll run some 3rd party speed tests and then we’ll see. While Windows Phone 7 has been rumored to get the “Mango” update at the end of the year, we’ve never really heard anything official about it. Well now, Microsoft has taken the covers off the major update that will be arriving this fall. Windows Phone 7 Mango boasts a long list of improvements: improved multi-tasking, 25% improved memory efficiency and an installed database. Other updates include the full desktop version of Internet Explorer 9 on the phone which means HTML5 support, in addition to hardware acceleration. The phone would also have extra features such as a geolocation-enabled clock, bank check imaging and wireless deposit apps, augmented reality support, a new Facebook app and much more. There will also be 1,500 new developer tools that will be made available for Windows Phone 7. For WP7 users, fall can’t seem to come soon enough.
