Apple store goes down ahead of iPhone 5

The Apple online store goes down once in a while, sometimes for maintenance, and sometimes to refresh its stores to reflect new products being added. Given that we are only a few hours away from Apple revealing the new iPhone, and possibly the new iPod touch and various accessories, we?re thinking that this is probably the latter. It?s anyone?s guess as to what will be in Apple?s online stores once it goes back online, but given the recent set of rumors, the next-gen iPhone, iPod touch, new adapters, new earphones and etc. should be there. Either way we?ll be keeping our eyes peeled, so be sure to check back with us later for the updates! So, who?s excited at seeing what Apple might have in store for us?

Additional iPod touch features revealed [Rumor]

Yesterday we reported that according to the rumors, a new iPod touch could be unveiled alongside the new iPhone. Some of its rumored specs includes the same display being used on the new iPhone, along with a new chip as well. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has had some pretty spot on predictions in the past, he has revealed some more features that he expects will make its way into the new iPod touch. (more…)

Blackberry 10 demo video surfaces, shows off app
switching and swipe gestures

If you?re a Blackberry loyalist and you?re wondering what is it about Blackberry 10 that makes it so special, or what can it do that will make you want to stick around, you?re in luck as a new Blackberry 10 demo video has been released which shows off app switching along with some additional gestures. We have to admit that it looks pretty smooth based on what we?ve seen so far, but given that the video was recorded in June and only released in September, it?s hard to say if we?re looking at an early build or perhaps a build that?s further down the line. Either way if it?s an early one, its smoothness and its looks are certainly promising, so if you still feel that Blackberry is still the platform of your choice, check out the video above to see what you can expect from Blackberry 10.

Samsung appears to be filming an anti-Apple
parody commercial

It is no secret that both Samsung and Apple are considered to be bitter rivals, what with Apple gaining a significant victory over Samsung in the US in their recent legal battle. While Samsung will appeal the judge?s decision, in the meantime they have decided to film an anti-Apple commercial where they basically parody Apple?s retail stores, the Geniuses who work there along with mockup devices which based on the photos, look nothing like Apple?s products (we guess that was the point). They have also created a sign that says, ?It?s coming? in the photo above which we?re assuming is referring to Apple?s upcoming iPhone 5 that should be announced later today. In any case Samsung has stated that they will sue Apple if the iPhone 5 has 4G LTE on board, so we guess this is just the beginning of what looks like another lengthy legal battle. In any case stay tuned as we?ll keep an eye out for the parody commercial when it has been released.

The MorphCase gives your iPod touch phone-like

In some ways the iPod touch could be thought of as a lower-end version of the iPhone, just minus the voice calling capabilities (unless via VoIP programs like Skype) and less powerful specs. However if you?d rather not own an iPod touch and an iPhone at the same time, but would like to turn your iPod touch into a more dedicated VoIP device, this Indiegogo project might be worth taking a look at. Dubbed the MorphCase, this is basically an accessory for your iPod touch that will give it a speaker and microphone placed in positions where one might expect on the phone. While you won’t be able to make regular calls via mobile networks, it will let you use your iPod touch like you would a phone. It straps on to your iPod touch and plugs into its 3.5mm audio jack. Of course this is only useful if you find yourself making a lot of VoIP calls and have access to WiFi hotspots ? either that or you can tether your phone and use the iPod touch to make calls, especially if you know that you?re reaching your credit limit. New LG Optimus G promo video released, promises
world beating image quality from its camera

LG?s Optimus G Android smartphone while certainly sporting some extremely powerful specs has yet to be released, but LG is looking to keep it in the forefront of our minds by releasing a new promo video (after this teaser not too long ago) where emphasis was placed on the phone?s camera. LG claims that this camera will be of ?world beating image quality? but we guess we will have to take it for a spin to see if LG?s claims are true! So far companies such as Apple, Samsung, Nokia and Sony have done a pretty good job when it comes to cameras on their smartphones, so we guess LG is looking to step up to the plate. LG did note on its YouTube video (above) that for some markets, the 13MP image sensor will be replaced by an 8MP one instead. In any case if the LG Optimus G is a phone you?re looking forward to, check out the video above.
