If you happen to be a huge fan of the Call of Duty series, regardless of whether you game on a console or on the PC, then you might want to mark September 22nd on your computer and black it out, doing nothing but wait for the downloadable content (DLC) to be made available. Oh yeah, that’s also when you make sure no one else at home is hogging your Internet connection so that you can get it downloaded to the respective machine in the quickest time possible.

Intel might have temporarily stopped all development on their MeeGo platform, but that does not mean they are no longer interested in the mobile marketplace. No sir, in fact, the smartphone market might just heat up in the future if Intel has their way with their E6XX range of Atom processors which are said to be able to support Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
Yes sir, does this mean we will be sporting smarpthones that have Intel’s Atom processor inside, with a sticker saying so on its exterior? Perhaps, but that will still be a long, long way before it is realized. In the meantime, it is much more feasible to see this new Atom processor with Gingerbread support run in retail stores, digital signage as well as in-vehicle systems.
What do you think? Should Intel just concentrate on the MeeGo platform instead of looking elsewhere? Perhaps they figured out that Android being widely used and adopted would be a better place to start with, since folks are far more familiar with Android than Meego. This is definitely not a case where familiarity breeds contempt, that’s for sure.

We all know what a worldwide phenomenon Angry Birds is at the moment, and I am afraid that eventually Angry Birds might be the downfall of Rovio. After all, Motorola was in the doldrums after the immensely successful RAZR line of phones, making them a victim of their own success. But I digress – in a recent study that was conducted, it was realized that male gamers are 35% more likely to go for the paid version after giving the free version a trial, compared to female gamers.

The BlackBerry Bold 9790 has been quite the elusive creature, perhaps even beating out on the Bornean bay cat in terms of appearance. Also known as the Bellagio, it was originally spotted earlier this year, but kind of disappeared off the radar until it resurfaced in July in the form of video clips. Well, at least there are crystal clear images to look at this time around, including some much needed information concerning the phone’s hardware specifications to boot.

Remember the leaked image of a BlackBerry that we looked at yesterday, wondering whether it is some clone from China because it came with the word “PROCEEDING” labeled at the top? Perhaps it is not a clone after all, since the dubbed BlackBerry Bold 9980 will follow the basic layout of the 9900, albeit with a rather harsh-looking metal exterior. Sporting the code name “Knight” (I wonder if that has anything to do with the shining armor in which it comes in), this might end up being a special edition model with Porsche branding.

Are you a proud owner of the HTC EVO 3D? If you answered in the affirmative, then you might be pleased to know that the Cyanogenmod 7 Alpha build is now available. For those who are not in the know and prefer to use their handsets as a stock device without making any modifications, then you can skip this. Others who are interested to make the most out of your smartphone, then you would definitely have heard of the most popular Stock Android ROM – Cyanogenmod.

It was some time back where Samsung made known to the world that they will be expanding their Galaxy line of phones – which is a smart choice for a name I suppose, considering how a galaxy contains millions upon millions of stars and planets, so you would probably never tire of a new Galaxy device from Samsung since it would be practically inexhaustible. Well, we have just caught word that the Samsung Galaxy W has just passed through the FCC’s gruelling array of tests, where it will be arriving on T-Mobile soon.
Also known as the Samsung T679 if you have a penchant for model numbers, then the next obvious thing that most folks would look out for would be the system specifications – and the Galaxy W sits pretty comfortably with the rest of the mid-upper range of Android-powered smartphones, where it will be powered by a 1.4GHz processor, carrying 4GB of internal memory and Android 2.3 Gingerbread as the operating system of choice. One thing though, the display could certainly do better than the 800 x 480 resolution screen that it comes with.
No idea on how much it will cost, but the hole in your pocket would probably be a negligible one. Isn’t it time you are due for an upgrade anyways? Image courtesy of CellPhone Signal.

When it comes to product names, having too many of them swimming around can get quite confusing after a while, especially when you throw in a mixture of numbers and letters. Well, good thing the LG Marquee does not toy with your mind in that way, as it has been more or less confirmed to be the LG Optimus Black – which name do you think is cooler that you would like to call it by?
The LG Marquee is all set to arrive on Sprint, courtesy of Sprint Cellebrite data. Cellebrite allows one to see information on upcoming handsets before they actually arrive, and the LG Marquee was caught in the master list, being listed as model LS-855, which incidentally is also an Android-powered smartphone which is otherwise known as the Optimus Black.
Too bad the phone’s existence is confirmed, but there is nothing else from there to move on – especially when it comes to hardware specifications, pricing and a release date.

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 might have received an injunction for it not to be sold in Germany, but I guess if you’re the type who looks at a glass half full, then it is great news that said tablet will not face any sales ban in the US, considering how the Galaxy Tab 10.1′s variant has passed FCC testing for T-Mobile.
This tablet was filed under the model number SGH-T859, where everything about it seemed to match the external dimensions of the Wi-Fi and LTE Galaxy Tab 10.1 variants, although this time around, it will come equipped with a GSM radio which is capable of supporting T-Mobile’s 1700MHz network, not to mention all the other staples such as 850/1900MHz GSM, EDGE, WCDMA and HSPA networks.

HTC’s upcoming Android handset, codenamed Runnymede, has been making its rounds on the internet pretty frequently turning up here and there. And it looks like Pocketnow has scored yet another leaked official press shot of the phone, so we now have a full frontal rendered image of the phone to drool over. I don?t know about you, but that is one sleek looking device.
If you’ve been keeping up with this phone, you would know that the HTC Runnymede will pack a 4.7″ (800 x 480) display, a single core 1.5GHz processor, 768MB of RAM, 16/32GB internal storage, Beats Audio technology, and a supposedly high-end camera. The phone is expected to cost $838 (£530) for the 16GB while the 32GB version will cost $885 (£560) ? both prices for an unlocked phone of course.
No word on when the phone will be making its way to our shores, but it’ll probably be released in Europe/Asia first. Judging by the specs, the phone sure seems like an Android version of the HTC TITAN, which I’m sure a lot of people will be looking forward to thanks to its massive display.
