Samsung TV Apps surpasses 10 million downloads

Samsung TV AppsSamsung has announced that Samsung Apps, the world’s first, and the company’s first HDTV-based app store, has surpassed the 10 million mark for number of downloads in addition to crossing the 1,000 registered apps milestone. While it’s nothing when compared to app stores like the Android Market and Apple App Store, it’s still a noticeable achievement for Samsung, which only opened the app store in February last year. As of today, Samsung Apps averages 50,000 downloads per day.

Twitter integration is available in default apps like Camera, Maps, Photos, Safari, YouTube and third party apps like Chomp, Flipboard, Instagram and more.

iTar turns your iPad into a guitar

iTarRemember the GhostGuitar app that turns your iPad 2 into an electric guitar? Well the folks over at Starr Labs have decided to take things a step further by turning it into a real guitar with the combination of an accessory and an app. Using its patented button fretboard technology, Starr Labs has announced a new iPad accessory called the iTar. All users have to is dock the tablet, launch the app, and they can start rocking away to their favorite tunes on the guitar.

In case you’re unfamiliar with Starr Labs, its fretboard technology has been used in instruments by a whole bunch of famous artists: the Chemical Brothers, Linkin Park, Lou Reed, and many TV/film studios. This will be the first time the company is developing a product for the masses ? unfortunately it doesn’t have the resources to do so, hence the Kickstarter project. T-Mobile SpringBoard tablet unveiled

T-Mobile SpringBoardToday, T-Mobile announced the launch of a new Android tablet on its network ? the T-Mobile Springboard and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. We all should know about the Tab 10.1 by now, so we’ll jump right to the SpringBoard. The T-Mobile SpringBoard is touted to be an affordable tablet that offers a premium mobile experience. It features a 7″ HD display, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, and is capable of accessing BLOCKBUSTER on Demand, Netflix, and T-Mobile TV ? perfect for your video watching needs.

It runs on Android 3.2 Honeycomb, features a 5-megapixel rear camera (720p HD video recording), a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera, HDMI output, and a microSD card slot (supports up to 32GB). With HSPA+ connectivity (marketed as 4G), this tablet is capable of downloading content as well as playing it. The SpringBoard tablet also comes preloaded with Blio eReader, MobileLife Family Organizer, Slacker Radio, and TeleNav GPS Navigator.

No word on the tablet’s battery life or pricing, but it should be under $200. The T-Mobile SpringBoard will be available in time for the holidays at T-Mobile retail stores and online. Find out more.
