Looks like Apple will be releasing its 13" ultra-portable MacBook at the Macworld Expo and Conference 2008 after all, and while it shaves just 2" off the current 15" MacBook Pro in terms of screen size, it will be roughly 50% lighter as well as much slimmer. Other than the standard minimalist nature of its design, this new 13" MacBook will do without the traditional optional disc drive, so you'll have to pack in a portable one if you tend to transfer plenty of media from a CD or DVD over to your MacBook. Other features include the adoption of new 13" LCD panels that boast LED backlights and integrated NAND flash drives. Good time to pick up some Apple stock ahead of the new MacBook announcement, perhaps?

The ASUS Ecobook aims to be as environmentally friendly as possible, with ASUS aiming for a 50% recyclable rate where the sum of the Ecobook's parts are concerned. In order to achieve this goal, the Ecobook features smooth strips of bamboo all over, but additional details are still scarce. Currently, the laptop's chassis is still not finalized as with its processor. Hopefully these bamboo strips have been treated lest termites eat up your 'homework'.

Microsoft's Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 will be getting a second, updated version soon as it is currently under the FCC's scrutiny. There is not much buzz about stuff that's changed within, but we do know that the form factor has remained relatively untouched. There is an additional button located just behind the scroll wheel up top, and the entire mouse just looks a whole lot smoother to the touch. No idea on when this new Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 will hit the streets, but hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.

Panasonic's new Toughbooks will come in a trio of form factors - the ultraportable W7, tablet T7, and slim Y7 notebook. All three will be powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, weighing between 3 to 3.7 pounds. Shared features include Bluetooth 2.0 and WiFi connectivity, in addition to a DVD Super multi drive. You can pretty much put these through a whole lot of abuse considering how they can stand up to heavy pressure, thanks to a magnesium-alloy casing, shock-mounted hard drives, and flexible internal connectors. This 7 Series of Toughbooks also boast spill-through keyboards that laugh in the face of an accidentally tipped over mug of coffee. Prices range between $2,099 and $2,449 when they go on sale next month onwards.

Touted to be the only arcade style joystick for the Wii Virtual Console at this time, you get the standard multi-directional joystick and six buttons to mash on. It comes in three colors - Arctic White, Coral Pink and Midnight Black. You can place your pre-order today, where one will cost $39.95 while getting a pair is cheaper at $69.95. Elecom aims to secure your data with its PASS (Password Authentication Security System) which lets you specify just which computers can see data on your drive. Should you unfortunately lose the PASS drive, you can always rest easy as the data becomes unreadable should anyone else plug it into a non-authorized computer. There is no release date nor pricing details for the Elecom PASS as at press time. You can store up to 16GB worth of data on this puppy though, and it is compatible with both Windows and Mac platforms.
