New features found in iOS 4.3 include multi-touch

We recently mentioned that iOS 4.3 would bring hotspot capabilities for GSM iPhones and now that the iOS 4.3 beta has been seeded to developers, reports of some new featuers have started to surface. One of the most interesting new features, aside from the hotspot feature, will be the multi-touch gesture support for the iPad, allowing users to use four or five fingers to pinch the Home Screen; swipe up to reveal the multi-tasking bar; swipe left or right between apps.

Sonys PSP 2 to be announced on Jan 27th

We haven?t heard too much of the PSP 2 recently, especially since the Xperia Play/PlayStation Phone has been making waves. Despite that, word is now going around that Sony might be gearing up to unveil the device as a Tokyo press event has been scheduled for the 27^th of January, supposedly an event where the device will be announced. It was also stated that publishers were told late last year of the plans and some of Sony?s biggest partners are already working on titles for the device.

RIM agrees to filter pornographic content on
BlackBerry devices over in Indonesia

It was previously mentioned that RIM was under pressure to filter pornographic content from BlackBerry devices over in Indonesia, and now it has been confirmed that RIM has agreed to such a move, stating that ?Research in Motion is fully committed to working with Indonesia?s carriers to put in place a prompt, compliant filtering solution for BlackBerry subscribers in Indonesia as soon as possible.? This move shouldn?t come as too much of a surprise as Indonesia hadenacted a strict anti-pornography law back in 2008. Reports also indicate that the Indonesian government is also requesting that RIM establish a server presence in the country so that it can easily access and monitor data sent by its citizens from BlackBerry devices. Not the most comforting news of the day, is it?

Google Places with Hotpot now available for iOS

Google has announced that its popular Places app that is already available for Android devices running version 1.6 or higher is now available for iOS. If you aren?t familiar with it yet, Google Places with Hotpot allows users to easily find retail and service locations within their proximity. Modu to close its doors and its employees fight
for pay

You might remember modu as the company who introduced some of the smallest cell phones in the world, and it allows those phones to have various features via external accessories. Now things aren?t looking too good for the company, though, as reports are in that it will be forced to close in early February and until then, only a small sales team will remain in place to sell off remaining inventory.

Sprint to announce another industry first on Feb

Despite CES ending a few days ago, Sprint still has some announcements in the bag for us. The carrier has begun to send out invitations to a press event that will be held early next month in New York City. There isn?t any indication of what will be announced on February 7^th, which is a week before Mobile World Congress 2011, so we?re left guessing. The only hint we?ve got at the moment is that it?ll be ?yet another industry first?.
