The HTC Incredible S was first shown off to the world at the Mobile World Congress last month and was scheduled for a Q2 release this year. The FCC recently took a gander at the device, and now images of the device in the wild have surfaced leading to the possibility the Android phone might arrive in retail outlets before Q1 ends. The folks at Android Spin recently got their hands on the Incredible S and snapped a number of photographs of the device, mentioning that they will be giving it a run through as well to post their hands-on experience with the phone. The HTC Incredible S features: a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM 8655 processor, a 4″ WVGA LCD, Android 2.2 (will be upgraded to 2.3 with Sense at launch), 8 megapixel rear camera with flash, 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, 4GB of internal storage, 768MB of RAM, and a 1450mAh battery.

It’s really amazing to see what the folks over at XDA-developers can do with the NOOKcolor. After they managed to root it and install all sorts of custom apps and ROMs onto the device, it appears that they have enabled a new function on the device ? Bluetooth support. With the use of the latest version of Cyanogen Mod, a custom ROM, they have managed to get Bluetooth enabled on the tablet. While Bluetooth does work, at the moment it only has a functional range or 13″. Perfect for close range accessories like a keyboard or headset, but you can expect its range to be increased in the future. Perhaps we’ll be able to make calls with the tablet through the Bluetooth headset as the next step?

Is there nothing that the folks at iFixit haven’t taken apart yet? Did someone say the iPad 2? You couldn’t be more wrong. The iPad 2 hasn’t even been made available for purchase in retail outlets at this time of writing, and the iFixit gang has already gotten their mittens on Apple’s latest iOS device. Through the tear down they discovered that the tablet carries a slightly larger battery than before, and besides the hard to remove front display panel, the device seems pretty easy to take apart. Well, if you find a problem with your iPad 2 (like a bug under the screen or something along those lines) you can head over to iFixit to find out how to take your tablet apart.

Here’s some very interesting news ? according to the latest reports online, it appears that the Microsoft-Nokia deal for the Finnish phone manufacturer to create Windows Phone 7 handsets has not been finalized yet. Apparently the two giants are still going over the final details of the deal before coming to an agreement. No wonder there hasn’t been any official announcement or confirmation of when we’ll be seeing WP7-Nokia devices. But since the deal has been pretty much confirmed and it doesn’t look like Microsoft or Nokia will be backing out from it, it’s only going to be a matter of time. However if you’d like to go over the agreements yourself, you’re welcome to check out the 200 page PDF file here. Are you excited about WP7-Nokia phones?

Ever since Apple introduced FaceTime to the iPhone, video calling has become a major trend of mobile devices and you’d be hard pressed to find a new device announced this year without a front facing camera. The BlackBerry PlayBook is no exception to the rule. It ships with both front and rear cameras, which obviously indicate that the tablet is video call-capable. It was initially assumed that the PlayBook would be relying on a third party app such as Skype for video calling purposes but according to RIM, they will be releasing their very own video conferencing app that should be launching with the tablet. Other than that, there haven’t been any details about the app. Whether it will be limited to BlackBerry PlayBook tablets or will it extend to other phones and computers as well. But one thing’s for sure ? current BlackBerry phones don’t even sport a front facing camera, so it’s unlikely they will be getting it at launch. Unless of course the app allows you to make use of the rear camera, and you can stand in front of a mirror to video call. The tablet will be arriving very soon, so if reports turn out to be true, we won’t have to wait too long in order to find out.

In a recent announcement from Twitter’s Product Manager, Ryan Sarver, the micro-blogging company has stated that there are enough unofficial Twitter clients available and that developers don’t need to bring anymore new ones into the market. Reasons for this new change in mindset is due to the fact that third-party clients are often confusing for new users, and might not provide the complete Twitter experience that they want everybody to have. They also included issues such as clients breaking their Terms of Service, including privacy policies. However, they encourage developers to create value-added content services like Foursqure/Instagram and other apps that complement Twitter instead of attempt to replace its official client (that’s now available on most mobile platforms). I guess it would be safe to say that there wouldn’t be a need for third party clients if the official one could do everything users were looking for. But for Twitter to tell developers “no” to creating new Twitter clients seems a bit harsh. After all, nobody is being forced to use third party clients, and it looks like they want everybody to use their official client. How many of you prefer the official Twitter app to a third party option?

Not too long ago, we reported about AT&T throttling the upload speeds of their 4G devices. Some investigation has been done, and AT&T has come clean about the situation. Apparently the carrier wasn’t “throttling” the upload speeds of their 4G devices, but they just haven’t enabled the HSUPA (the feature that allows users to upload at 4G speeds) capabilities of their 4G phones yet. AT&T has issued a statement saying that they are currently performing tests and preparations so that when they enable HSUPA, “you will continue to have a world class experience.” I guess that clears the air about things. Now all that’s left to wish for is a confirmation date of when that will be.

According to reports online, one of the most-requested features of the BlackBerry OS, mobile hotspot tethering will become a native feature in the next version of the BlackBerry OS. Some leaked slides of the upcoming update to BlackBerry OS have surfaced online courtesy of N4BB, and they show off the Mobile Hotspot function of the operating system. Finally, BlackBerry users have the ability to share their phone’s internet connection with other WiFi devices without having to pay for an app to provide the function. This news goes hand in hand with the imminent launch of the PlayBook, since the WiFi-only version of the tablet will most probably rely on the presence of a BlackBerry with tethering to allow it to go online when users don’t have an accessible WiFi connection nearby. Other features spotted in the leaked slides are NFC support (that can be turned on and off) as well as sharing the phone’s internet connection to a computer via USB (which can already be done now). RIM sure is stepping up their game, by updating their smartphone OS but is it too late?

According to speculations online, the LG Optimus 2X will be making its way over to this side of the world ? and will be sold by carrier, T-Mobile and will be rebranded as the G2X. And that’s not the biggest part of the news. Apparently T-Mobile has managed to convince LG to release the device as a “G” phone. Just in case you were wondering, T-Mobile’s “G” phones have always had one thing in common ? the pure Google experience aka stock Android (and a keyboard, but since the Optimus 2X doesn’t carry one?). If this turns out to be true, you can expect the G2X to be packing stock Android as well. While the phone will be released with Android 2.2, the update to Android 2.3 is also touted to arrive within weeks. The phone will also be upgraded to support T-Mobile’s HSPA+ 4G network ? which is something we thought that was lacking about the phone. Dual-core processor, stock Android, 4G connectivity ? could you ask for more?
