Stomp on your enemies with this latest Kinect and
Wiimote hack

video details and more

This isn?t the first Kinect hack that uses a Nintendo Wiimote, but it?s definitely a cool hack. The creator of this hack used the FAAST emulator for the Kinect and GlovePIE for the Wiimote, allowing you to have some pretty fun gaming sessions in Dead Space 2. One notable feature of this hack is the ability to stomp on your enemies in the game, turning the game into some sort of digital stress ball stress reliever. Check out the video above and see it for yourself.

LEGO viewfinder and shutter release added to Sony
NEX-5 camera

Sony?s NEX-5 camera is definitely a looker, but if you want it to stand out even more, LEGO bricks might be able to come to your rescue. Somebody out there decided to create a LEGO viewfinder for the camera and he?s also came up with a LEGO shutter release. The creator of this mod is aptly dubbed ?cubie?, and the shutter release involved soldering a few IR LEDs to a headphone jack and positioning them to sit on top of the camera?s IR sensor. When the right sound is played through the audio patch cable, the picture is then taken. Sounds overly complicated, but it?s hard to object to adding LEGO bricks to items.

Yahoo unveils Livestand, its digital newsstand
for tablets

Yahoo has unveiled its latest product, a personalized digital newsstand for tablets, dubbed Livestand. The app is touted as a perpetually active newsstand and offers Android and iPad users a customized selection of news from Yahoo, entertainment news site OMG, and Flickr galleries. The content will be continuously updated depending on the user?s preferences, the location and the time. Other publishers will be able to join in on the fun in the future, allowing them to publish once and have it delivered to more than one platform at the same time. Ads will also be more targeted but will react to user behavior instead of going through personal data. The Android and iPad versions of the app will be ready in the first half of 2011 and there might be a phone-sized version of the app somewhere down the road.

Stock Android Gingerbread ROM appears for Droid

If you happen to own the original Motorola Droid and have yet to make an upgrade of your smartphone, you would be mighty pleased to know that there is a stock Android 2.3 Gingerbread ROM available from Peter Alfonso (also known as Bugless Beast). While there are tons of ROMs having rolled out that claim to be Gingerbread, most of them are just Froyo with a Gingerbread launcher as well as icons. This new ROM, however, was built right from 2.3.2, and will offer an actual Android 2.3 Gingerbread experience. Hopefully your Droid is still up to the task though, and will it prevent you from making a phone upgrade?

Turbospoke creates illusion of faster bicycle

You know those rice rockets that terrorize your neighborhood? Well, have you noticed how some of them think that putting a couple of NOS decals on the outside will psychologically provide a speed boost. Well, the same sort of thinking has translated to bicycles, with the Turbospoke – it might just bring back memories of placing a baseball card in the spoke of your bicycle wheel just to make it sound a whole lot cooler than it actually is. Turbospoke will feature a set of strong plastic cards which are positioned between the spokes of your rear tire, where they are connected to a tube that has been shaped to resemble an exhaust pipe. Said faux exhaust pipe functions as an amplifier, creating plenty of sound to turn your bicycle into the coolest on the block. Would you fork out $20 for this?

Nokia employees walk out in protest of Microsoft
deal

Nokia?s partnership with Microsoft is definitely a big deal and there will be major changes thanks to it. Of course, change isn?t necessarily welcome by everybody and many Nokia employees have made their disapproval of the deal known. Nokia?s staff voiced their dissatisfaction by walking out of Nokia facilities and it?s been said that as many as a thousand workers marched out. Reports say that many of the protestors work on the Symbian platform, so their jobs will likely in jeopardy as Nokia begins to implement Windows Phone 7 on its devices. Nokia will still continue to work on Symbian at the moment, but the axe will probably fall sooner or later. No job cuts have been mentioned just yet, but whispers are going around that the cuts in headcount will be substantial.
