Raytheon interceptor hits test missile

Star Wars for the US government is far more than just sentimental attachment to a cultural pop phenomenon that was created by George Lucas, introducing the world to a whole new galaxy of Jedi Knights, the Sith as well as a plethora of alien lifeform and starships. Star Wars was also coined by some to be a defense system for the country just in case an enemy decides to send a missile through space, where a “net” of anti-missile weapons are in place to shoot down any potential threat. Well, Raytheon Inc.’s interceptor was said to have shot down a target missile successfully recently, meaning that Europe could soon be getting their anti-missile shield in due time. (more…)

PS3 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Limited
Edition Bundle coming this May 25th

Word has it that the PS3 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Limited Edition Bundle is well on its way, arriving this May 25th to let you enjoy one of the best-selling first person action games to date (although a select bunch out there might beg to differ) on the PS3 platform. Just what does this Limited Edition Bundle bring to the fore? We are talking about a copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 which actually achieved a new entertainment launch record when it was released in November last year, which in turn is accompanied by a 320GB PlayStation 3 system so that you can get started right out of the box.

The asking price? A mere $299, which is rather outrageous when you think about it, considering how the PS Vita itself costs the same just or the hardware alone. Well, at least if you want a no-brainer method to get started on some Call of Duty goodness, then this Limited Edition Bundle will do the trick, letting you gain instant and free access to the action-packed title’s online multiplayer experience via PlayStation Network.

Verizon HTC Thunderbolt to receive Ice Cream
Sandwich update down the road

There are times in life when being notified of a particular update is always a nice piece of news to receive, and this is especially so when it comes to the world of smartphones as well as consoles. Basically, the Verizon Wireless version of the HTC Thunderbolt has been confirmed that it will receive the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update sometime down the road, although guessing the release date is as accurate as knowing who would win the 100m dash in the Olympics this year if Usain Bolt is not the red hot favorite. However, we do know that the Verizon Wireless HTC Thunderbolt will be on the receiving end of the 2.11.605.19 update, and the roll out ought to kick off in a few weeks’ time. Expect to see improvements such as better data connectivity, improved device stability, improvements to the mail application in addition to other fixes that will definitely make your life a whole lot easier. Samsung 55-inch OLED TV is the first to be mass
produced

So Mitsubishi has a 155″ OLED TV that was showcased at CEATEC all the way back in 2009, but Samsung has shown that with time and determination, they are able to overtake their rivals – or at least catch up with them. Back in January this year, the world took notice of LG’s 55-inch OLED TV, making grown men who love technology slobber all over the place, much to their other half’s chagrin. Well, it seems that Samsung intends to make this 55-inch behemoth a reality in living rooms across the US. Going by the model number ES9500, this 55-inch OLED TV is said to deliver unprecedented picture quality, a wide range of Smart Content, as well as a premium design that ushers in a new age for Samsung as well as the TV industry on the whole. Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket HD cancelled by AT&T
for Galaxy S3 launch

AT&T has decided to avoid rolling out the Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket HD simply because they have a far better device in tow – the Samsung Galaxy S3, of course. According to The Verge, Samsung?s Ryan Bidan mentioned to them that with the recent introduction of the Samsung Galaxy S3, it has rendered smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket HD irrelevant – at least in the high end smartphone segment, although there might be people out there who feel that having a smartphone without residing on the high end scale is right up their alley. If you had been all prepared to fork out good money for the Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket HD, just how do you feel after hearing about news like this? Does it make your blood boil, or do you think that it is a good thing after all? I guess the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket HD is the right phone at the wrong time and wrong place.

Sony expects ROI after huge loss in 2011

Sony posted a record net loss of $5.74 billion for the fiscal year 2011. But the Japanese consumer electronics company said that it expects a return of profit this year as it cuts losses on its TV business, which has been a bottomless pit in recent years. In case you didn’t know, Sony’s shares are valued at under $15.5 billion, and it slipped to a quarter century low this week. With Kazuo Hirai as its new CEO, Sony is slashing costs and jobs in a bid to turn things around, particularly its struggling TV unit. Sony is apparently considering partnerships to help the company compete better in the TV industry. But more than that, Kazuo Hirai is looking to cameras, gaming and smartphones as an avenue to spur growth. With high hopes, Sony is expecting its operating profit to reach 180 billion yen this year until March of next year. (more…)
