[CES 2012] Nyxio has announced the launch of its Android-powered Smart TV at CES today. Called the Nyxio Smart TV with Android, it is touch-capable and runs on the Android operating system, which means it is compatible with the almost half-million Android apps that are available right now. The TVs will feature HD resolution and LED technology, and will come in sizes ranging from 21.5″ up to 65″. Features such as voice control will be available, and Nyxio plans to ship the TVs out by January 31st, though there was no mention of pricing yet. Stay tuned for more details.

[CES 2012] Sony introduced the Xperia S Android smartphone at CES yesterday, which was easily one of Sony’s best looking devices. Other than its sleek design, the phone packs top-notch specs like a 720p HD display, and a 12-megapixel camera with the Exmor R photo sensor. What I really like about the phone design is the clear bar that is used below the display for the Android buttons (back, home and menu) ? something that I’ve never seen before on other devices. Check out a video demonstration of the phone after the break:

[CES 2012] We covered the ZIK Parrot yesterday and while they look pretty sweet, photographs aren’t enough to show you how the touch panel on the headphones work. Today we’ve got a video demonstration to do just that. Check out the headphone gestures in action ? pretty impressive I might add ? with my only gripe being it would be too easy for other people to mess around with your headphones if they want to annoy you. Feedair is a new startup which aims to take the notification market by storm with a new device, but more importantly, with a new cloud-based service. The idea is to deliver short and very readable notifications that are contextually relevant, in an easy and cost-effective way. The Feedair hardware is the first product born from this initiative, and it has been designed to be friendly, visible, but not intrusive at the same time. The Feedair device requires a WiFi network and a smartphone to set it up (iOS or Android). It draws power from a 500mA USB-compatible source, which means that it works virtually everywhere in the world. (more…)

[CES 2012] In the past, Dell has not been known for its forte in product design. Instead, the brand’s reputation relied more on its ability to provide affordable computers for the masses. With the rise of the iPhone and the constant domination of Apple on the high-end laptops market segment (over $1000), the Austin-based company decided last year to operate a drastic shift in brand and product positioning to increase its profitability in the consumer PC market. Basically, Dell made the decision to deliver user-centric products instead of exclusively focusing on technology and features, and now, it is paying off.
The Dell XPS 13 is one of the best surprises that we have seen at CES, this beautifully crafted ultrathin 13-inch notebook has everything in its guts to rival (and surpass) the MacBook Air, and, according to the manufacturer, it is the only true enterprise-ready Ultrabook on the market to date.

Have you ever seen a robot made from cardboard? Before today, neither have I, and if you’re curious to what a moving creation made from cardboard would look like, you’re in luck. A designer named Mike Estee recently came up with a Hexapod made from servos, servo controllers and laser-cut cardboard limbs. While it might not be the most useful of robots (not to mention highly flammable and damaged by water), it is a pretty impressive ? plus it’s eco-friendly too, seeing how it’s mostly made of biodegradable material. Check out a video demonstration of the robot in action:

[CES 2012] Yesterday HP launched its super sleek looking ultrabook ? the HP ENVY 14 Spectre, and while we got some photographs of the device for you, some of you might have wanted more coverage of the device. Well, if you’re one of those craving for more of the Spectre we’ve got some video footage with an HP representative giving us a rundown of the ultrabook at CES. We get to see the impressive looking glass lid and well crafted body, as well as a demo of some of its features. The proximity sensor didn’t seem to work at the end, but let’s hope it won’t be a issue when it finally goes on sale. Check out the video after the break:
