Strange to see a concept device not living up to its namesake – we’re talking about the LG Triptych, which denotes the number 3, although it has just two faces. Still, this is one convergence device that would attract the attention of many since it lets you carry both a phone and a tablet in a single form factor – especially when you can open it up to have both displays synchronize to end up as a tablet, albeit with a potentially distracting bezel in the middle. Who are we to say that such a crazy idea won’t happen in the future, but from the form factor itself, we’re guessing they’ve also figured out potential battery woes involved in something so small and yet having so many power guzzling parts.

The HTC Wildfire proved to be a decent mid-range Android phone, and while it didn’t occupy top spot on anybody’s wish list, it was still functional to a certain extent if you aren’t too fussy with what you get underneath the hood. A quiet, reliable worker, that’s what it was. Guess the same can be said about the Wildfire 2 according to its leaked specifications, where it will carry the Qualcomm MSM 7227 600MHz processor, a 3.2″ TFT touchscreen display at 320 x 480 resolution, a 5-megapixel camera, 384MB RAM, a microSDHC memory card slot as well as Wi-Fi connectivity among others. If you’re a beginner who is looking for a new Android smartphone to play around with, we suppose the Wildfire 2 is able to step into such shoes comfortably.

Frazer-Nash has worked together with University College London (UCL) and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Trust (RNOH) in order to figure out just how wheelchair users use their arms. The main aim behind this study is to construct a special wheelchair which is capable of detecting the force applied to the wheels, where the whole idea would be to prevent repetitive rotator cuff damage and other upper extremity problems in newer designs. Based off a previous Powerwheel prototype, we could see future wheelchairs that might just be able to make injuries obtained a thing of the past. That’d certainly put a smile on most people’s faces, but as to whether it is capable of being affordable or not when the day arrives, that is another question altogether.

Yet another leak of an upcoming Android-powered smartphone, and this time around it is the HTC Desire HD2 – where it will be powered by a similar processor as that of the Samsung Galaxy S 2, which is a dual core Qualcomm 8260 SnapDragon 1.2GHz processor with Adreno 205 support for 3D capabilities. The 3.3″ Super LCD touchscreen display maxes out at 960 x 540 resolution, bringing along with it an 8-megapixel camera with HD recording capability, 512MB RAM, 8GB of internal memory, a microSDHC memory card slot, AGPS, and all the standard trappings of a high end Android smartphone. If only we could know more about its pricing and availability, that’d be swell.

In what many people deem to be a rather strange move, announcing the Palm Pre 3 right before the Pre 2 is available, perhaps there is still some redemption story here which we could look at. Apparently, pre-orders of the Pre sequel will cost you $100 with a contract, where Verizon’s offer will also boast the inclusion of its Mobile Hotspot feature that will not cost you a single penny after that. This deal would mean you save another $40 monthly just for the advantage of sharing your data connection with other Wi-Fi devices, so do take advantage of this promotion that delivers 5GB of bandwidth to share for free. Bear in mind that this is a limited time offer, so grab it while it is hot. After all, opportunity knocks but once.

The HTC Desire was a pretty decent offering where high end Android phones were concerned back in its day, and a sequel was bound to follow – of which we have leaked specifications of it now. With the Qualcomm 8250 SnapDragon 1GHz processor running proceedings from within, you won’t find this to be a slouch with its 3.7″ Super LCD touchscreen display at 800 x 480 resolution, a 5-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front facing camera, HD video recording capability, 512MB RAM, 4GB of internal memory, microSDHC support, AGPS and all the other standard trappings. This time around, the Desire 2 will clearly remain in the mid-range Android smartphone category, since it doesn’t do 4G, so don’t expect to fork out top dollar for it.

Dell’s convertible tablet device that is known by its model number K08T has finally been put through the paces at the FCC. Having won FCC approval for its WiMAX functionality, it does look good to appear over at Sprint due to the carrier’s 4G WiMAX service that is available in the US. The tablet sports a full keyboard as well as what does look like to be a swiveling screen which measures around 12? diagonally. This does seem to be more of Dell’s current line of XT tablets instead of the slate design that the world has clearly embraced as the in-thing, and there is room to think that the K08T might just be the WiMAX version of the XT3 convertible tablet.

Google knows that data security is of utmost importance – and the Internet search giant has just introduced new methods to further secure your activities online. Your Gmail account, photos, and private documents more or less tend to rely on the same password across multiple sites, so as the adage goes, the strongest chain is only as strong as the weakest link – so Google intends to have users take advantage of a new advanced opt-in security feature known as 2-step verification, making your Google Account significantly more secure since it will help verify that you’re the actual owner of the account. This rollout will happen in a staggered measure, so you might see a new link on your Account Settings page in due time.
