Loongson Godson After coming up with its own DVD-like standard, China has set for itself the goal of selling its own CPU design to the world, but it might take 20 years before Chinese processor technology can match the best stuff on the market – currently produced by western companies like Intel, AMD and ARM. The current Chinese CPU, codenamed Loongson (aka GodSon) is set to power the Dawning 6000, a Chinese supercomputer .

“just like a country’s industry cannot always depend on foreign steel and oil, China’s information industry needs its own CPU” says Hu Weiwu, who leads the development of the Loongson.

LG Revolution passes through the FCC

It sure looks like every other 4G phone other than Verizon’s “first” 4G phone has been making any progress from initial announcement to becoming a reality. A new LG phone called the Revolution has just passed the FCC, leaving HTC fans wondering where the ThunderBolt could be. The LG Revolution was shown off at CES 2011, but wasn’t officially announced and now since it’s passed the FCC, LG/Verizon might be making it official soon. The Revolution supports Verizon’s 4G LTE network, packs a 4.3″ display, and a 1GHz processor. No official release date or prices have been revealed but you can be sure they’ll arrive soon. Palm Pre 2 owners receive webOS 2.1

webOS 3.0 might be arriving just around the corner, but it looks like HP isn’t going to be neglecting their current webOS customers. It has been reported that the webOS 2.1 update has started rolling out to Pre 2 phones worldwide. At the moment it’s only the unlocked GSM phones that are getting the update but we can be sure a CDMA version will drop soon. The webOS 2.1 update brings features such as Exhibition, Voice Dial, other enhancements and improvements to Email, Messaging and Tasks. If you haven’t received the notification to update yet, don’t fret ? it might take awhile to reach the area you’re in.
