AMBER Alert is proposing the idea of using a Kingston USB drive to store information of your child, ranging from biographical data, vital statistics, relatives, his/her frequent haunts, to favorite websites in a single device. Known as the AMBER Alert Child ID Kit, I can't quite help but think this is eerily too similar to the Micro I.D. Rescue Collar. Each USB drive retails for $29.95 and is good for one child (d-uh!). The information within is password protected, but whether it is encrypted or not is another matter altogether. You definitely don't want this to fall into the wrong hands, especially those who prey on children.

The OneClean Keyboard cleaner from AM Products take a jab against those USB-powered vacuum cleaners whom they claim look cute in a fashionable animal design, but are notorious for not getting the job done. The OneClean Keyboard Cleaner goes one up as it not only cleans your keyboard, but disinfects it as well with the user-reversible sculpted sponge. I suppose this is a big deal for those who are worried that some spore or bacteria will end up in their morning bagel, but for the rest of us, we can elicit a collective "Meh!". If you're paranoid of falling sick and yet am too embarassed to wear a bubble suit, the OneClean Keyboard Cleaner can be yours for £14.99.

Brilliant minds at Purdue University have managed to develop a handheld analytical device reminiscent of the Tricorder as seen in the Star Trek sci-fi series. This invention is actually an amalgamation of two device, where one sprays an object with ionized water vapor while a miniaturized mass spectrometer will go to work trying to detect substances. A Windows-based computer will then store results of the analysis which can be looked into at a later date. What are some of the uses you can think of with the tricorder? For instance, users will now be able to detect disease markers in urine, salmonella in food, and even cocaine on a rolled-up bill. Expect to see the tricorder hit markets in the near future.

For those of you who spend so much time on the road that it virtually becomes your office or home, the eDesk In Car Portable Desk is for you. The eDesk mounts on either your steering wheel or on the back of the front seat.
I've tried writing notes using the steering wheel as my table (parked of course) and it's not fun trying to write a proper sentence with a non-level base. This is the problem that I believe the designers tried to solve. Now you can write memos, read books and even eat McDonald's on a stable flat surface.
Features of the eDesk In Car Portable Desk:
- Folds up into compact unit
- Great for travelling
- Hangs off Steering Wheel
- Hangs off Back Seat

Simeon Simeonov is speculating that Google is currently working on a new cellphone, also known as the Google Phone. You have got to take what this man says into consideration since he was the former president and CEO of Danger, and is well established in the world of cellphones. Some claim that the Google Phone is targeting the iPhone as its main rival, but that remanis to be seen until something more concrete comes is released. I'm not too sure about this rumor - will Google actually now enter the hardware business just to expand the advertising pie? What do you guys think? At least the consumers win if the Google Phone is a reality since it offers more choice to the mass market.

Now this is a pretty interesting and affordable GPS logger, offering up to 49 hours of recording on a single 3.6V lithium ion battery. Featuring the highly recommended SiRFStar III GPS chipset within, the GPS data logger can hold up to 255 files on each memory card at any one time. Each file stored will also come with the necessary date and time stamps, but they have to be formatted in the FAT16 format before use. Each $150 purchase comes with a 128MB SD card for you to store your positions. The company page looks very much like a home startup, so don't expect a design that is on par with multi-million dollar companies. What's more important is it works fine and is reliable.

My, my, how lazy have we become. I thought it was pretty weird that fans came with remote controls, but now lights?! National of Japan has released the Lifter light where its position and brightness level can be adjusted with a remote control. I wonder whether you have to service this light just like how air conditioners require regular service intervals to keep it running at an optimum level. Those who are residing or passing by the Land of the Rising Sun will be able to pick up the lazy man's Lifter light for approximately $810 after conversion.

Bose is a name better associated with home sound systems, but they seem to have cobbled a pretty formidable GPS navigation system into an in-car entertainment setup. Known as the Bose Media System, this luxurious device comes with a proximity sensor which is capable of sensing your hand and adjusting the user interface accordingly. The intelligent uMusic system also works great for those who want to play songs that suit their current mood - after all nobody wants to listen to "Please Release Me" from Engelbert Humperdinck when they've just walked down the aisle, do they? Some features include a hard drive, iPod connectivity and Bluetooth support. Read on after the jump for additional details.
