The 3D effect can’t be captured by a camera, but the cans are supposed to “pop out”
Designed for the advertising market, this 50” monitor can display stereo 3D without requiring viewers to wear glasses. The technology is called autostereoscopy and there are several implementations. This is one of the more successful demonstrations that I have seen since last year. The typical problem of autostereoscopy is that the resolution appears to be very low. With a pixel density increase, things will get better, and this is a good step. I watched for a minute and so far it does not seem to be a headache generator. It’s designed for advertising anyway, so people aren’t supposed to look at it for too long.
[CES 2010] As with any other decent CES, Asus plays with new concepts by introducing the Waveface Casa, Waveface Light and Waveface Ultra. The Waveface Casa comprises of a large widescreen display which functions as an entertainment center and internet portal. Interesting thing is this - whenever you are not using it, there appears a flexible, decorative cover which allows only tiny areas to show off contextually-relevant information. We see a huge third-party market for images to be printed on changeable decorative covers. As for the Waveface Light, you get a touchscreen display with a soft, flexible material behind it, allowing one to use theLight as a standard screen-keyboard when interfacing to a cloud. Alternatively, it can function as a flat, single-display tablet. Last but not least would be the Waveface Ultra, a portable device that is worn like a watch, allowing tou to access information and services according to your whims and fancies. As to the type of information and services available, we're probably looking at social networking, email, RSS feeds, the works.
[CES 2010] We guess if you were a Storm Trooper, you would most probably place a request to Darth Vader for the Asus ROG G37Jh gaming notebook as your computing equipment of choice. Why do we say so? The specs itself are more than enough to make you weep, where it features a 17.3" display at 1,920 x 1,080 resolution for your portable full HD needs, 8GB DDR3 RAM that blows the mind away, a speedy Intel Core i7-720QM processor, an ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics card with DirectX 11 support, a 1TB hard drive, a Blu-ray/DVD combo drive, a 2-megapixel webcam, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity with Windows 7 Home Premium as the operating system of choice. No idea on its pricing, but judging by the specifications, it ain't gonna be cheap!
[CES 2010] Asus intends to remain at the cutting edge of technology with their latest NX90 Bang & Olufsen ICEpower notebook, boasting the lines and styling cues from award-winning B&O Chief Designer David Lewis. As you can tell, anything with a B&O branding on it would mean a higher end price tag, and the NX90 is no different as it boasts a polished aluminum exterior and palm rest which matches the matte-black keyboard and dual touchpads. Apart from that, you get standard B&O audio quality speakers equipped with ICEpower technology. Eagle eyed readers might ask – why dual touch pads? Well, they aren't just there for show as these two can work in tandem with the Rotation Desktop software to offer users an intuitive DJ-like control. With an 18.4" display, a slot loading Blu-ray/DVD combo drive, dual hard drive support, a 2-megapixel webcam, USB 3.0 connectivity (yes, this is future proof for a while) and NVIDIA GeForce GT 334M graphics to get you started, you can expect to be the envy of the crowd with the NX90, so better get great sounding MP3s on your machine soonest possible!
