NVIDIA has started sending out invitations to its press conference at Mobile World Congress this year and it’s no surprise to what they’ll be showcasing. Clearly stating it on the invitation, the company will be showing off “the latest quad-core innovations from NVIDIA”. With 2012 being touted as the year of the quad-core SoCs (just like how last year was all about dual-core), it’s no surprise that we get a preview of upcoming Tegra 3 devices this early in the year. There aren’t any specific details on what will be shown off at NVIDIA’s conference but we’re pretty sure there will be plenty of Android devices to feast our eyes on. What are the quad-core devices you’re looking forward to at MWC 2012?

For those of you who are still harboring hopes of Samsung announcing a new major device at MWC 2012, it looks like it’s time to put those hopes to rest. The folks over at PCMag.com received confirmation via email from Samsung that it won’t be hosting any press conferences at the Mobile World Congress this year. While the Korean electronics manufacturer will be around to showcase its products, it won’t be holding anything on the big stage ? which means we won’t be seeing any major products from them (i.e. flagship devices) at the event.
We’ve previously reported about Samsung delaying the announcement of the Galaxy S3, so it’s no surprise but I guess this piece of new information confirms the fact. Samsung is well-known for its flashy MWC announcement so it’ll be interesting to see how this year’s event will turn out. Maybe another company will pick up the torch instead? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

It looks like Nokia has quite a number of devices under wraps ? after reports of the Nokia 801 yesterday, rumors of yet another Nokia device have sprouted up. This time it’s from the folks over at BGR who have got some information on a device called the Nokia 803 ? a Nokia Belle running phone that has a 4″ AMOLED display, an HDMI-out port, microSIM support and NFC capabilities. It is also touted to have “the largest camera sensor ? ever seen on a mobile phone.”
To corroborate with those rumors, Pocketnow.com also received an illustration of what is said to be the Nokia 803, which could also be the final Symbian phone that will be released by Nokia. There’s no telling if these rumors are true, but if the phone ends up looking like the image ? it’s going to need one heck of a camera in order to move units. Let’s hope MWC 2012 sheds some light on these devices.

Google released Chrome for Android yesterday, and today it pushed out an update for the desktop version of its web browser. The latest stable version of Chrome now has features that were present in the beta version of Chrome that was released last month. This means users will get an improved Omnibox that autocompletes URLs to sites you’re likely to visit, and Chrome will even prerender the page so that it appears even faster ? sometimes even instantly.
In addition to a better Omnibox, Chrome now has improved security when it comes to protecting users from downloading malicious files. Whenever you download a file, Chrome checks for it on a list of known bad files, and even checks if the website you’re downloading from is known for hosting files that you don’t want on your computer.
Google also announced that a new update for Chrome OS is on the way, featuring a new image editor and an improved Verizon 3G activation portal. Head over to the Chrome website or click About… in Chrome to download it.
