Google Chrome OS tablet

We’ve previously reported about some screenshots of Chrome OS being used in some sort of tablet-friendly mode, and now some video footage of it has surfaced. A web developer named François Beaufort recently finished compiling a software build of Chrome OS that would work on tablets, and posted a video demonstration of it online.

Chase away the Monday blues with news of the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update being made available to HTC Inspire 4G owners. Yes sir, you ought to be able to receive this update on your smartphone Over The Air (OTA) if you haven’t done so already – either that, or be patient and it will arrive eventually sooner or later.

Just what does Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread bring to the table? Well, you get better and improved HTC Sense features such as updated Application Tray, FriendStream, Quick Settings in the Notifications window, better Power Management functionality, an improved media experience, and a bunch of other minor bug fixes.

The update will weigh in at 269MB if you cannot wait for the OTA version to arrive, so head on to HTC’s website if you want to take matters into your own hands. Of course, we would recommend making sure your Inspire 4G is at full battery strength before proceeding, not to mention making a backup before you perform said update just in case, you know, Murphy strikes.

LG Prada K2 goes to the fat house

The LG Prada K2 is an upcoming smartphone that has gone through the rigors of clever engineering and design – how else are you going to explain a body so svelte, it is less than 9mm thick, and yet seemingly managed to cram in a whole truckload of features which other smartphones can only dream of? Yes sir, the LG Prada K2 has been rumored to come with a 4.3″ NOVA display that is in its second generation, touted a brightness level of 1,000 suns – nay, nits.

In order to keep up with the rest of the leading pack, the Prada K2 will also feature dual cameras, with a front-facing 1.3-megapixel webcam to capture your own images and make video calls, while an 8-megapixel camera is located at the back for crystal clear images. 16GB ROM, 21Mbps HSPA+ connectivity, and Android 2.3 Gingerbread rounds off the Prada K2′s list of features.

Hopefully the software that comes with the LG Prada K2 would be able to live up to expectations, otherwise it would just be another pretty face without ‘soul’. Watch a short video of the LG Prada K2 in action after the jump.

Motorola Droid Bionic makes another photo round

The Motorola Droid Bionic has been pretty hot stuff over the past week, having made the headlines for many a website and blog. Well, no small wonder, since this could very well be the next best thing from Motorola, so the hype is justified. Well, our friends over at GottaBeMobile seem to have gotten hold on one of these puppies, where they have snapped a gazillion photos of the Droid Bionic. It is definitely not as slim as the Samsung Galaxy S II by any means – far from it, but then again Verizon isn’t known for delivering thin LTE-enabled smartphones. It is said that the Droid Bionic is more or less as thick as the HTC ThunderBolt – and that is saying something.

While the Droid Bionic is not quite official just yet, I think this will hardly be the last time where we will spot the Bionic in the wild before it arrives on store shelves formally. There is no concrete date just yet for its release, so stay tuned.

Erasable e-paper hails from Taiwan

i2R’s e-paper is a new kind of paper that might just help prevent even more trees from being felled just because we love printing far more documentation than is actually required, in addition to a gazillion other excuses. Well, this is not the kind of paper that we think it is according to its Taiwan-based developers, but rather, the e-paper will rely on a thermal printer that is not too different from the ones found in fax machines. Whenever you no longer need whatever is written on the paper, just flip the switch on and all content on the paper will be erased – letting you do so for up to 260 times.

Lion Recovery Disk Assistant

The digital distribution model seems to be the way to move forward for software companies, but it is always good to have a physical copy of your software somewhere, just in case something untoward happens such as a hard drive failure that takes down Lion’s recovery partition along with it. For those who live life carefully, planning each and every single step, this should come across as no worry since you would have rolled your own install image, returning to the clutches of Snow Leopard before going ahead to go through the arduos OS X Lion installation process again.

Vizio tablet starts to ship for $299

Vizio – the name that you would normally associate with quality LCD HDTVs at a reasonable price point is back with something far smaller to the tune of just 8″ – we’re talking about the new Vizio tablet that sports Wi-Fi connectivity, having arrived at retailers around the country for just $299 a pop. Yes, price is not everything, but many people would use that as a yardstick first before going through the list of hardware specifications in order to make a comparison.

Gummi Bear earphones smell good

Gummi Bear scented earphones

Remember the Gummy Bear earphones that were reported about a long time ago? Well, it seems like the earphones have been given an upgrade. Spotted on Fred Flare, an online store, these Gummi Bear (spelt with an ‘i’ this time)  earphones take the whole lookalike gimmick to the next level. Instead of just looking like candy, the earphones have also been made to smell like them too!

The Gummi Bear earphones come in different colors with matching scents: strawberry, apple and blueberry. It makes you wonder what other scented earphones can we get in the future ? fried chicken, or cheese burger scented earphones perhaps? Now that would be strange. You can purchase the scented Gummi Bear earphones for $18 here.
