The original MotorStorm games were a great leap in technology, bringing unprecedented level of graphical detail to the PS3, but the gameplay couldn’t quite match up to the graphics. Remember the Windows Phone 7 updater by Team ChevronWP7 that allowed you to update your WP7 phone regardless of what model it may be and the warning Microsoft issued about it possibly putting your phones into an unserviceable state? There were disputes over the whole issue, with some folks saying that they’ve received notifications to official updates even after updating their phone unofficially. Well it looks like it does’nt matter anymore. Regardless of whether it negatively affects your WP7 device or not, the ChevronWP7 updater has been pulled off the internet because Microsoft told the developer that the tool was “breaking phones.” So there might be a possibility that users who updated their phones with the unofficial updater could be stuck on NoDo forever. The developer is working on how to rectify the solution, but until then it looks like a system restore of the phone to its original state should do the trick, which not many users are willing to do for now. I guess we’ll have to wait for the next WP7 Update to arrive first. Read the blog post about the updater being removed.

According to the latest results of the desktop OS market share in the US for April 2011 collected by StatCounter, it looks like people are finally leaving Windows XP behind and getting an upgrade to Windows 7. For the first time since it became the most popular operating system around, Windows XP’s market share has been trumped by Windows 7. Windows 7 is now used on 31.71% of desktops in the US, while Windows XP has dropped to 31.56%. Now the lead isn’t a lot but it does show that Windows XP has finally peaked and is on its way out now. Windows Vista is at third place with 19.07%, Mac OS X at fourth with 14.87%, Linux is last with 0.70% and Other/miscellaneous operating systems make up 2.09% of the chart. It makes you wonder if there are users still on Windows 3.1 out there. How many of you are still haven’t made the upgrade to Windows 7 from XP or Vista?

If you own a Nintendo 3DS, you get access to Augmented Reality games, one of the most interesting features of the console. While most AR games are played with cards, the folks over at Level Up Studios have decided to come up with an AR shirt instead. While the idea isn’t new, they’ve executed it really well. With fun mini games where you end up shooting targets, and finally a dragon which pops out of the shirt wearer’s chest that you can kill. While AR shirts haven’t caught on yet, if more companies hop on the bandwagon in the future, I can imagine going out to public places with the 3DS is going to be a great way to pass the time while waiting for the bus or train. Hit the break to watch a video demo of the Level Up Studios shirt. It is also available for purchase now at $17.99.

It looks like Verizon’s victory over AT&T for having less dropped calls on the iPhone 4 has been short lived. Recently, apparently a number of Verizon customers have been complaining about problems with their iPad 2 tablets connecting to Verizon’s 3G service. Nobody is sure about what the cause of the problem is, but it seems to happen when people turn off the 3G connection and try to turn it back on. Apple has acknowledged that it is a problem though they didn’t specify how many tablets were affected, and when a solution will be issued. But on the internet, some people mentioned that rebooting the device with 3G on solves the problem, other folks say a backup and a reset of the tablet works as well. But whatever the case is, it shouldn’t be a problem for a device as mature as the iPad ? after all Apple seemed to have fixed connection problems with the Verizon iPhone 4. Hopefully the iOS 4.3.2 patch rumored to arrive in the coming weeks fixes these problems. Have any of you experienced such problems with your Verizon 3G iPad 2?

Google has just announced some new updates for Android to make the operating system more prominent in the corporate environment. First up we have a new Device Policy app that allows employees to locate lost or stolen devices on a map, ring it in case it’s in the office, rest the device PIN or even wipe the device remotely via the new My Devices website. While this really helps private and confidential data from leaking out in the event of a stolen/misplaced phone it would be better if employees didn’t lose their phones in the first place. The second feature is the ability for users to encrypt all the data on their Honeycomb tablets. Lastly, the inclusion of Google Apps Lookup that makes it easy to find and contact people in your organization ? something that a regular phone book can probably do if you had all the contacts yourself, but for someone new to a company this would prove to be an invaluable feature. Can we say “move aside BlackBerry” yet? Only time will tell.

If you’re the type of person who likes to update their mobile device every year just to keep up with technology, it looks like your next phone probably won’t on Verizon. It has just been confirmed that Big Red will be eliminating their 1-year contract option for their subsidized devices starting April 17. Verizon’s reasons for the removal? ?Greater majority of customers sign up for a two-year contract.? While that may be true, eliminating 1-year contracts might tick a number of people off. Normally people opt for a 1-year contract to get a slightly subsidized price on their phones so if they decide to get a new device it would only be a 1 year wait. However with the 2-year contract it looks like some customers will be bound longer than they’d like, and hopping over to another carrier for a new phone isn’t going to be so easy anymore (unless of course, money isn’t an issue). Do you agree with Verizon’s move to cut out 1-year contracts?

Folks looking forward to the launch of new Android devices on Verizon will be happy to know that we’ve finally got some dates ? that’s if the latest leaked roadmap from Sears is to be believed. The next 3 weeks are going to be pretty exciting for Verizon customers as we’ll see the launch of 3 new Android devices. First up we have the Samsung Droid Charge, another 4G LTE phone for Verizon, arriving on April 14, the following week brings us the HTC Droid Incredible 2 (or is it Incredible S?) on April 21, and the week after that we’ll see the launch of the first dedicated gaming Android handset ? the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play on April 28. If the devices don’t get delayed like the Thunderbolt, there’s no reason we shouldn’t jump for joy. In the meantime, start weighing those piggy banks at home?
