Great news for all Dell Streak 7 owners out there in the US ? the wait for the Honeycomb update on this side of the world is finally over! The Honeycomb update was released for the European Dell Streak 7 tablets earlier this month, and not too far away from its initial release, it looks like it’s ready for the Streak 7 tablets stateside. If you haven’t received any notifications about an update on your Dell Streak 7 tablet, you can head over to Menu > Settings > About > System Updates to check for it or visit the official update page from your tablet.
The Honeycomb update brings a lot of new features to the Android tablet: the Honeycomb Holographic UI, improved multi-tasking and navigation, enhanced action bar and system bar, instant access to all screens, updated email UI, improved Stage widgets, and updated preloaded apps. For those of you who have managed to install the update, how’s it treating you so far?

There is a reason why some people head off to the local hair salon to get their hair washed – they just love the human interaction as well as massaging done to the head, but it seems just like those massaging chairs that keep on coming out, there are also robots that wash your hair – especially this one from Panasonic that boasts 24 “fingers” to provide your scalp with a massage to boot. No idea on whether it will be as expert as that of a seasoned veteran, but at least the elderly and the infirm will have something to look forward to instead of the scowl from a busy son or daughter when they put forward their request to get their hair washed.

Still up in the air over which kind of tablet device you want to purchase? Well, fret not – there is the Lenovo IdeaPad A1 that has just opened up its doors for your pre-order pleasure – and this is the smaller sibling to the IdeaPad K1 just in case you were wondering. 2GB of storage space will cost you $199, while throw in another $50 and you get eight times (that’s 16GB just in case your calculator is broken) the amount of internal memory. Surely it is a no-brainer as to which model to pick up, right?

Summer is over, and yes we all know that the Google TV Honeycomb update is long overdue. So where is it? Well, it’s on its way ? according to Google TV Director of Content, Donagh O’Malley who recently spoke at the Connected TV panel during MIPCOM 2011. He didn’t announce why the update was delayed, but he did give an estimated time of arrival: “within the next three to four weeks.” He also mentioned that there are around 250 apps currently optimized for the new Google TV and when it finally goes live we can also expect a jump from 8 apps to 1,000 overnight.
For those not in the know, the update for Google TV introduces Android 3.1 Honeycomb to the set-top box and includes a whole bunch of new features such as USB support, hardware 3D acceleration and of course, Android Market. Well, an updated Google TV in time for the holiday should do well to help boost sales of the device. Keep those fingers crossed.

Nuance dug deep into their coffers for Swype – to the tune of a cool $100 million thereabouts in fact – according to a source who knows all the wheelings and dealings that is going on. Seattle-based startup Swype is something of a revolution when it comes to virtual keyboards if you find it difficult to make the transition from a physical QWERTY keyboard over to a virtual one.

HTC might have acquired Beats for a cool $300 million, but that doesn’t mean the Taiwanese phone company is going to have all the fun. No sir, Nokia of Finland wants in on some audio accessory action as well, hence teaming up with Monster for their range of upcoming accessories.
Nokia might be an ailing ship at the moment, but that doesn’t mean they are about to be submerged anytime soon. They still command a sizeable presence in the featurephone market as well as emerging sectors, so hopefully the Monster range of Nokia accessories will be aesthetically pleasing in addition to being power performers that Monster’s range of headphones are famous for.
Just hope that Nokia’s future handsets would be hip and happening enough to go hand-in-hand with what Monster has in mind to revitalize this brand.

The T-Mobile Galaxy S2 will go on sale October 12th, but before it can even reach consumers nationwide, somebody managed to get their hands a working unit and benchmarked the phone. And if you’re wondering why these benchmarks are interesting ? it’s because unlike the AT&T and Sprint Galaxy S2, the T-Mobile variant does not sport the same Exynos processor as the its nearly identical brothers. So how does the Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 fare in the benchmark test?
Well, the phone was put through a Quadrant benchmark and sure enough it posted excellent results. In the video sample released online, the phone hits a score of 3727 which is pretty impressive even though it doesn’t match the 4000+ that has been reported online for the Exynos when overclocked to 1.5GHz. Now these numbers don’t necessarily mean anything ? after all, what’s the point of excellent “measured” performance if it doesn’t translate into excellent “perceived” performance? But anyway if you’re a fan of numbers or just curious to see how the T-Mobile Galaxy S2 handles the Quadrant test, check out the video:

To everybody waiting for Google to launch the latest version of Android, the wait is almost over. Ice Cream Sandwich is going to be unveiled at the Samsung Unpacked event next week according to a report from CNET. They visited the official Android Developers YouTube channel (where the Unpacked event is supposed to be streamed live) and noticed a placeholder video named “Android ICS launch” with a countdown in the video box.
And as predicted, at this time of writing, the video countdown is no longer available and has been replaced with a “This live event is no longer available. Sorry about that.” message instead. Fortunately CNET grabbed a screen shot (above) and judging by the remaining time on the countdown ? it matches up nicely with the date of the Samsung Unpacked event (where the Nexus Prime/Galaxy Nexus is supposed to make its debut as well). October 11th can’t come soon enough.

If you happen to want to build a HTPC (Home Theater PC) set up in your living room, then surely you would fare much better with a wireless keyboard than a wired one – trust us on this. Sure, there is the small matter of remembering to juice up the wireless keyboard as and when required, but nothing beats the convenience of a wireless keyboard as you cozy up to your favorite beanbag and start updating your Facebook status from afar.

Simple mathematics deduce that this NASA-approved electric airplane that you see above will travel at speeds of up to 100mph – after all, how else did it cover 200 miles in two hours? While electric airplanes are not new, this one is clearly a triumph in flight efficiency as well as battery life, being able to sustain a 200 mile flight using nothing but electricity alone.
In fact, when you convert the amount of electricity used, it is roughly equal to that of 2 gallons of gas – or less. From electric cars to electric bikes and now electric planes, I suspect a jet-sized version is still very far from reality as there are nigh insurmountable engineering challenges at the moment before such a dream is rolled out. Enjoy the video of this plane right after the jump.
