The textile stress sensor vest has come far enough to become a reality in the forseeable future, where the level of physical stress can be determined by registering the electrical excitation of the muscles in activities such as sports training and computer games. The vest's core will contain sensors woven into the fabric that will go about its job discreetly, and some practical applications of such a vest include using it as a computer game vest to control objects on the screen via muscle tension, although I'm not too sure just how a game will play out that way. It would be interesting to see bloggers wear this at work, wondering whether their fingers have reached the limit where touch typing is concerned.

Is this the coolest NES mod you've ever seen or what - the whole works, consisting of an NES emulator system, controls, an LCD display, all crammed into an original NES cartridge. What more can an old school video game fanboy ask for? Of course, the mod case itself took a fair bit of hits during the modification process, but that only adds to the overall character. Too bad you don't see the same level of devotion from Sega Game Gear or Master System fans...

Here's yet another leak from Sony Ericsson - the W595 Linda that will come in a slider form factor. Of course, this will be a music-centric handset that will come with a 3.2 megapixel camera and will take over the Sony Ericsson W580 model which is in dire need of a successor. The improved camera isn't the only thing to look forward to the W595, as it measures a pocket friendly 14mm thin, making it comfortable (theoretically) to hold in your palm while going through your playlist. Other notable features include an integrated FM radio when you run out of MP3s and Shake control. Hopefully they won't incorporate a proprietary headset jack and use the 3.5mm standard instead.

Sharp has a couple of new solar-powered LED street lights that will hit the Japanese market later next month, merging both Sharp’s proprietary solar modules and high-intensity, long-life white LEDs. First off we have the Sharp LN-LW3A1 Solar-Powered LED Street Light that offers the highest level rating for light output, hitting an amount that is comparable to the 20-W class of security lights, making it ideal for spot lighting in areas such as public parks. In addition, these inventions boast a Seismic Motion Sensor that is able to detect whether an earthquake which measures 5 or more on the Japanese seismic scale is about to hit the Land of the Rising Sun. Good to see Japan taking pro-active steps in going green - when will the rest of the world follow closely?

Samsung's new U4 digital audio player has just surfaced on the Korean Samsung site, but other than the pictures, little else is known about it - not even the specifications or details. It does look rather peculiar in design, resembling more of a remote control of sorts than anything else. Judging by the image, it looks as though it will come with touch-based buttons as well as a rather tiny display that won't be too easy on those who have trouble reading small fonts. Chances are this will be an entry level device.
