The Acer Iconia Tab A500 has been unboxed, and you can tell from the specifications alone that this is no standard entry-level tablet considering it comes with a dual core Nvidia Tegra 250 Cortex A9 processor, alongside a GeForce GPU that will be able to handle all of your graphical requirements. Other hardware specifications that are crammed into its aluminum case include a 10.1″ capacitive mutli-touch WXGA display at 1280 x 800 resolution, a HDMI port for you to enjoy your favorite HD movies over on a flat screen TV, Wi-Fi connectivity and the option to have 3G if you want to fork out more dough (the latter is 30g heavier than the 700g Wi-Fi only model). On the back lies a 5-megapixel camera, while the front has a 2-megapixel camera for video calls. Depending on your needs, you can choose from either 16GB or 32GB of integrated memory. Up for pre-order in the UK, delivery is scheduled for April 20th if you’re interested. Sounds good on paper, but is it enough to tempt you away from the iPad 2?

According to a tech author and 3G strategist, Tomi Ahonen, MMS is an important platform that is being ignored right now and should be taken more seriously. Too many people are focusing on creating apps dedicated to smartphones and ignoring phones that are more than capable of displaying multimedia. His reasoning? ?There are about 100 million iPhones on the platform. Now multiply it against all mobile phones. That?s 2% of your audience. If you develop an iPhone app and you are a media brand, you are deliberately ignoring 98% of your available audience. That?s a pretty rotten strategy in my mind.? Most of the world still isn’t using smartphones (smartphones only account for about 17% of the world’s handsets) and by using SMS and MMS to reach out to audiences would be a better idea at this point in time. Ahonen also mentions that MMS has 2.4 billion active users today ? that’s more than the amount of users Facebook will ever reach.
Media brands should forget about creating apps and focus on MMS instead, says strategist, By Ubergizmo. Top Stories : iPad 2 Review, Intel SSD 320 Review,

It’s been a long time coming, but the WiFi-only version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab will finally arrive in stores this weekend. According to the Samsung website, we’ll be seeing the WiFi-only version of the Android tablet on sale this Sunday, with a price tag of $349.99. The tablet will be retailing at Circuit City, Tiger Direct, and CompUSA, though we’re pretty sure we’ll be seeing the device being sold in many other outlets come the following weeks. The tablet will be pretty much the same as the 3G version, except that you don’t get 3G, and you won’t be buying it with a carrier contract either. However, that being said, the tablet came out last year and features last year specs, including the non-tablet optimized Android 2.2 (Froyo). Will its $349.99 price tag be low enough for you to overlook such issues?

We’ve mentioned in previous reports that Dell will be releasing some 10″ Windows 7 tablets by fall. Well, what would you say to 10″ Dell tablets that ran on the Android operating system? According to the latest rumors, Dell’s next iteration of their Android tablet, the Streak 10, will be 10″ in size and will be running Android 3.0 (Honeycomb). Other than that, no other details have been speculated for the device but chances are it will feature similar specs to the Dell Streak 7, albeit minor improvements. But since there’s no official word from Dell, it’s best we take such rumors with a pinch of salt. We’ll keep you posted if there are any updates about the tablet.

Speaking to thinq_ the organisation’s chairman of all things cloudy David Bernstein explained why common industry-wide standards would be essential to the development of cloud computing. Add to myYahoo!Commodore is a brand that refuses to die, and there are enough nostalgic supporters to make a businessman think that it’s still worth something, which is why Barry Altman ? who now owns the trademark ? has released a desktop computer that looks just like the original Commodore 64 did, except it’s not actually a [...]

The NASA rover, Curiosity, which had to abandon its plans to bring 3D cameras to Mars, is almost ready for its mission later this year. NASA has just announced that the exploring vehicle is nearing its final stages of completion and they released brand new photographs of the rover in their labs. Looking like some sort of highly advanced Lego Technic vehicle, Curiosity was definitely designed not to look pretty, but armed with multiple cameras and a rugged body construction it sure looks like it’s ready to do its job of scouting the red planet for life. The rover is undergoing testing right now, and when it is completed, it won’t look too different from what you can see in the pictures right now. But what’s more important than how it looks is the video footage that the rover will provide on its mission on mars.

Add to myYahoo! The tablet war rages on and it is still not completely clear who will be the eventual victor (perhaps no single vendor at all). Will it be Apple (and their new iPad 2) or Motorola and the Xoom, their new tablet running Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) or perhaps another up-and-comer? Of course, many have already anointed [...]
