Using lightweight, reusable shopping bags made of recycled materials is pretty standard practice these days, but it's nice when bags you use all the time have a bit of style too. I like these bags made of recycled newspaper...

The One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) organization has come to an understanding with Amazon to sell its extremely cheap laptops over the Internet from late November onwards, allowing folks to purchase the XO laptops for personal use or to donate to a school located in a developing nation. This program will begin later this November and will run for approximately a month long. Those who want to contribute to this altruistic cause but reside outside of the US are out of luck though. In related news, the OLPC is already working on a new generation of the XO laptop that should see the light of day in 2010.

LG has more or less finished their sequel to the Prada, unimaginatively known as the Prada II. This model will come with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard in addition to the following specifications (something we lacked in our earlier post) :-

Adam Huffman has dreamt of the Zune Contact concept, hoping to see Microsoft go head-to-head with Apple in the phone arena sometime down the road. I'm not too sure whether that is worth the investment from the software giant, but it would be an interesting battle, that's for sure. Hopefully the dud that is the Zune won't be repeated in the Zune Contact, as this concept comes with a revamped user interface, a super slim body, a 5 megapixel camera and a full touch screen display - no idea if it supports multi-touch or not though. What do you think Microsoft needs to do to make an iPhone killer?

Garmin might be offering a free lifetime traffic feature to the masses, but that comes at a "price" so to speak - it will feature ads.
"One gripe: The nüvi 755T comes with advertisements. My evaluation unit arrived with three preloaded vendors (BP, Walgreens, and Wells Fargo). When you access the traffic menu, one of these advertiser's names always appears at the bottom of the screen. Also, from time to time, one of these ads will pop up on the map view screen (they won't appear when you are in motion). A single tap of the advertisers' name will perform a POI search for nearby retail locations. Unfortunately, you can't disable these ads, but it's likely that they help Garmin offset the cost of the live traffic information that it offers free."
How much are you willing to pay to get rid of the ads, or are you fine with companies bombarding you with promotional material from time to time?

If you're a fan of Rock Band and Guitar Hero, it makes perfect sense to get a cross-compatible peripheral that is the ezJam Combo Guitar - after all, you certainly can't be playing both games simultaneously, and it makes much more sense to have just one device that can work with both games instead of splurging more money on two individual gaming guitars. The ezJam Combo Guitar comes with a port that plugs into the Wiimote whenever you're rocking with Guitar Hero III on your Wii, while you get a built-in wireless transmitter that works just great with Rock Band. It will retail for $70 a pop, making it slightly more expensive compared to other third party solutions, but at least it works with two different yet similar games.
