E FUN makes another stab at the tablet market with their latest device, the Nextbook 8. Obviously these days, when you have a number attached to the model name, chances are that will also be the screen size, and the same applies to the Nextbook 8 with its 8″ color TFT capacitive multi touch screen, where it will also sport integrated Wi-Fi connectivity, an e-reader, a Kobo eBook Store app, SlideME application manager, OfficeSuite Viewer and ASTRO File Manager.

Do you happen to be in possession of some rather nifty hacking knowledge, and also a £30 graphics card lying around the basement somewhere? If you answered “Yes” on both accounts, then good – chances are you are already equipped to be able to crack passwords in just a dozen seconds.
This was what business hosting firm UKFast revealed as part of Cyber Security Awareness Month, where they laid claim that hackers are able to figure out just what your password is in under 12 seconds with the kind of equipment mentioned, where tests involved an Nvidia Geforce GT220 graphics card as well as a Windows 7 machine.
The company’s security staff managed to crack an eight character password in four hours, while a seven character password took a mere five minutes with a six character password in a matter of 12 seconds. Imagine how much faster those passwords can be cracked when a far more powerful graphics cards is utilized, where even a GPU that costs 30 quid can process as much as 158 million possible passwords per second. Food for thought, no?

OccasionalGamer has a history of revealing unannounced Windows Phone devices thanks to its Game Stats page that track the devices that download and play games by the developer. According to its recent stats page, it looks like we’ve got two new phones to add to the list of upcoming Windows Phone devices from Nokia and Samsung. Beyond their names, no other details about the phones were provided on the stats page.
First up we have the Nokia Lumia 800. We’ve never heard about the phone before, but the folks over at WPcentral think it could be the code name for the SeaRay rebrand, the Nokia Sun ? seeing how Lumia is related to light, and light comes from the Sun after all. Then again, it could be something totally different.
Secondly, we have the Samsung Monument ? which sounds like it could be a high-end Windows Phone device, judging by its name. A Galaxy S2 Windows Phone-variant or a new Samsung Focus? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Check out the full Game Stats page at OccasionalGamer, maybe you’ll discover a new phone we missed out.

It really looks like Nokia will be meeting its goal of releasing its first Windows Phone device this year. According to a screenshot a tipster sent in to the folks at monwindowsphone.com (a French Windows Phone site), a phone called the Nokia Sun (S46) will be available on the French Orange network in the week of November 7-13th 2011. Judging by its specs, the Sun is most probably a re-brand of the Nokia SeaRay but we could be wrong.
The specs of the Nokia Sun are: Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango), a 3.7″ AMOLED display, a 1.4GHz processor, 16GB of internal storage, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a Micro SIM card slot, and a polycarbonate unibody shell. No pictures of the device were revealed but the phone is expected to be announced later this month at Nokia World (October 26th). Until then, we’ll keep you posted on any new developments.

Earlier today we had the official announcement from Microsoft about the Live TV arriving on the Xbox 360, well it turns out they had more in store for us as well. In addition to the update for the Xbox 360, Microsoft will also be introducing a new app for Windows Phone devices called the Xbox Companion app. The app is designed to let users find, learn more about and control content from the Xbox Live Marketplace on the Xbox 360 using Windows Phone.
With Xbox Companion, users can easily search for content: movies, music and TV shows using the app on their phones, and launch it on their Xbox consoles. If users want to find out more about what they are watching/listening to, they can easily find out more about it through the app. Think of it as IMDB for music as well as video on the Xbox. Lastly, the app will allow users to turn their phones into remote controls to control the playback of content.
No word on whether it’ll be available for non-Windows Phone users, or when it’ll be released, but if it turns out to be on Windows Phone-only, I guess it gives Xbox 360 owners another reason to buy a WP 7 device.

Any of you as excited about Max Payne 3 as I am? If you are, you’ll be glad to know that Rockstar Games has just uploaded three new screenshots showing us what to expect from the upcoming game when it drops next year. The screenshots look significantly darker than the previously released trailer which was a tad too bright for some people’s tastes. Max looks to be on form and in tip top shape ? with and without hair, and of course we have Max Payne with his signature dual-wielding moves. It also looks like Max can now kick in the game (no need for a Matrix mod!)
No telling if the screenshots are from cut scenes in the game or actual gameplay, but one thing is for certain ? they look awesome. March 2012 can’t come soon enough. Hit the break to check out two more screenshots of the game:

Amazon’s WhisperSync is one of Kindle’s most useful features: the ability to pick up and continue reading a book where you left off despite reading it previously on a different device is a big deal for a lot of people. With Amazon’s recent launch of its own Android tablet, it looks like the company might be preparing to take it to the next level. With the WhisperSync functionality working with Amazon Instant Video, it looks like the company could easily expand it to include other files as well i.e. calendars, documents and more.
