Everglide Bicycle Concept

Everglide Bicycle Concept

The Everglide Bicycle Concept is certainly an eye-opener after it picked up third place at the recently concluded International Bicycle Design Competition (IBDC). This innovative, multi-purpose design sports a bicycle with a backpack. This is made possible by folding it down to its rear carry-case, allowing it to be wheeled, backpacked or cycled, depending on the situation. This integrated solution also enables one to satisfy a variety of needs for short-distance cyclists, making it convenient to carry aboard other forms of public transport such as cabs, trains and buses. It features a shaft-drive mechanism which is light-weight and compact, providing a clean smart drive solution while allowing handheld devices such as phones and iPods to be plugged in and regeneratively charged via frictionless magnetic dynamo technology. Can't wait for the day such a design is realized.

Video Tape USB Hub

Video Tape USB Hub

Retro will always have a market no matter just how far we've come along in the future, and the Video Tape USB Hub certainly adds a smack of nostalgia for those who still cannot accept the fact that DVDs have taken over the world of home video. This home-made Video Tape USB Hub lights up in a soothing blue glow, reminding me of the "wow" effect that the blue-screened Nokia 8250 had on me back in the last century when it was first unveiled.

Automated White Board

Sprites Mods has hacked the Automated White Board which is capable of extracting text input from the Internet while plotting it on the whiteboard. This is made possible by using an electromagnet that releases a spring, pushing a perspex rod on the whiteboard, moving the entire carriage including the pen's tip away from the surface. If the pen requires to be 'down', the electromagnet will actuate and gravity will push the tip of the pen down to the whiteboard's surface yet again. A microcontroller will control the driver ICs. To get a better idea of how the entire thing works, just take a look at the video and be amazed. I wonder how soon will corporate America have something like this.

AlphaGrip Handheld Computer

AlphaGrip Handheld Computer

Now here's a computer, the AlphaGrip that would put even the Eee PC to shame size-wise, although it won't pack as much computing power as Asus' offering in the first place. Featuring enough keys for ten finger touch typing, you get a trackball and stylus for easy navigation, boasting the capability to write straight onto the touchscreen. I guess this is good for standard note-taking purposes but won't do very well in the corporate boardroom. Unfortunately, it is still in a concept stage and doesn't look as though it will be a hit even when materialized, as it will occupy an extremely niche market. Better get a handsome tote bag to lug this around.
