Fujitsu is parading an interesting concept for the ultra mobile PC that is all the rage these days. It is a long way off from Samsung's Q1 by including a traditional keyboard that can be compacted to the size of a CD case. This brave move will win traditionalists over, who feel that using a stylus with a PC is just plain wrong. Unfortunately, this design will limit the ultra-mobile PC's portability, as you won't be able to use it while taking a stroll or in a train with standing room only. Head on to the Japanese Design Exhibition that is held in Milan this week to see the other interesting concepts.

First unveiled at CTIA, Las Vegas, the LG550's official release date has yet to be announced.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 has succeeded in incorporating a huge 10x optical zoom lens into an unbelievably compact body. The TZ1 also includes the Venus Engine III image processing SLI that makes shooting at ISO 800 in full resolution possible. This 5-megapixel camera boasts a bright 2.5" LCD (resolution of 207k pixels) with a dummy-proof UI. The stylish housing feels solid and fits the camera's character extremely well. For the fashion-conscious, rest assured the design will not go out of style anytime soon. The TZ1 is expected to make a major impact as a multi-purpose camera when released.

Russian-Canadian billionaire Alex Shnaider has placed an order with TrekStor to develop the world's most expensive MP3 player. Encrusted with $20,000 worth of diamonds (63 in total) and cast in 750 gold, Alex hit on the brilliant idea of refurbishing the award-winning i.Beat organix MP3 player while negotiating sponsorship terms with the TrekStor CEO. He subsequently placed this unique order on the spot. Talk about maxing out on bling, but when you are a billionaire, a mere 20 grand is like a drop in the ocean. Alex plans to auction the MP3 player for a charitable cause though. Anyone up to make a bid?

Sony's upcoming DCR-SR100 camcorder will ship with a built-in hard drive that is able to store more than 20 hours of LP video which amounts to 7 hours of high-quality video. It uses a 3.3-megapixel HAD CCD and Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar lenses that will capture exceptionally stunning pictures. A nightshot mode grants you the freedom to capture video in total darkness, while the built-in microphone records sound in Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. Unfortunately, the DCR-SR100 does not support high definition, which is a shame, really.

Microsoft has made available the Windows® CE 5.0 Networked Media Device Feature Pack that supports a wide range of video formats, PlaysForSure™ certification and digital video recorder (DVR) functionalities. These features will help developers streamline device differentiation and innovation rather than middleware licensing and integration. It is supported by various consumer electronics companies such as Amoi Electronics Co. Ltd., HUMAX Co. Ltd., Media Excel Inc., Microsoft TV and Motorola Inc. Since it comes with built-in middleware components, device makers need not waste time searching for compatible 3rd party middleware, which speeds up the time to market and lower total cost of ownership.

The Asus P525 looks like a Blackberry device but actually runs on the Windows Mobile 5.0 OS. At its heart is a 416 MHz processor, 128 MB ROM, 802.11b and Bluetooth connectivity, and quad-band GSM/GPRS. The release date for the Asus P525 is yet unknown, and we will have to wait for the FCC to grant an approval before purchasing the device directly in the U.S. If that doesn't happen, there are always import shops available.

It is only a matter of time before death becomes digitized - the tombstone, that is. This digital tombstone comes with a weather-proof LCD screen that plays a short clip of the deceased or the memorial service when its infra red sensor is tripped by a mourner. Volume levels will be a sensitive issue, unless the manufacturer decides to include a headset at each tomb.
