GrayHawk Reference Screen G3

GrayHawk Reference Screen G3Stewart Filmscreen Corporation has demonstrated the 45" x 103" GrayHawk Reference Screen G3 that has been optimized for full HD (1080p) projectors, featuring new screen materials. Apparently, the optical coating improves pixel density for the most optimal 1080p (and higher) resolution images at all times, resulting in greater depth, contrast, and color saturation along with improved resolution, clarity, and realism. Since the performance is so film-like, the delivery system virtually becomes undetectable to the naked eye.

Stewart CineCurve multi-format screen

Stewart CineCurve multi-format screen There are more and more projectors these days supporting the Cinescope format, which is why Stewart Filmscreen Corporation decided to bring the CineCurve to the masses. This native 2.40:1 curved multi-format screen has already made a foothold in many places courtesy of the best systems integrators within the industry, picking up critical acclaim and numerous awards along the way. The CineCurve screen enables movie lovers to watch their favorite films in their original aspect ratio without the interruption of annoying black bars above, at the bottom, and at the sides. Not only that, the electronically controlled masking panels can also be adjusted based on the source's aspect ratio (i.e. 1.33:1, 1.78:1, 1.85:1, 2.35:1, 2.40:1, etc.). Since the screen is slightly curved, it creates a sense of immersion in the process. Do you have a CineCurve screen in your home?

Axiomtek does new low power PC

Axiomtek does new low power PCAxiomtek has launched a spanking new low power EPIC form factor single board computer known as the EP821. Don't expect this rig to do more than cater for your basic computing needs, since it is powered by a mere Intel Pentium M processor (you could go for the ULV Celeron M as well) and the Intel 915GME/910GMLE with ICH6M chipset. Features include a PCI-104 slot for 32-bit PCI interface add-on cards, a quartet of COM ports, and dual LVDS LCD output. No idea on how much this will cost though.

iToner for custom ringtones on iPhone

iToner for custom ringtones on iPhoneMost folks who own the iPhone would be disappointed by the lack of a custom ringtone on the device, but the iToner application for OS X salvages the situation. Concocted by Ambrosia Software, iToner 1.0.0 needs you to just drag and drop any MP3 file of your choice into the program and add it onto your iPhone, and you're good to go. Even better news is no sort of hanky panky business was involved with the iToner, so you can rest easy knowing your iPhone will still be able to receive future updates without any hassle whatsoever. It retails for $15 a pop. Only the younger and more hip generation would find this useful - I noticed that older folks couldn't give a rat's behind about their ringtone of choice.

LED candle looks like the real thing

LED candle looks like the real thingThis LED candles are made from real wax, and deep inside it's belly lies an LED light that actually looks natural from the outside, flickering away in the night without melting a single drop of hot wax from within. Not only that, you can easily toggle between blue and yellow colors on-the-fly, and turning it on/off requires you to give a small puff. This interesting home improvement idea will set you back by $15, and at the very least the risk of burning your house down is greatly diminished.

USB Hub Man

USB Hub Man
The USB Hub Man from Kikkerland features flexible wire ands and legs, with each of them carrying a single USB port. While this is a pretty interesting presentation compared to those boring looking USB ports that we have seen in the past, the issue of practicality does arise. His body, of course, is where all the electronics like including a tiny green power indicator LED that takes the place of a heart. One major drawback would be having only one of these ports run at USB 2.0 speeds, so hopefully his scion will feature USB 2.0 all round next time. The USB Hub Man is tipped to hit stores from next month onwards, retailing for around $19 a pop.

NEC unveils new LaVie series laptops

NEC unveils new LaVie series laptops
NEC has been pretty busy lately, and this has resulted in a trio of new LaVie Series laptops - the LaVie C, LaVie L Advanced Type and LaVie L Standard Type. The LaVie C takes the cake when it comes to specifications, so we'll just concentrate on this one instead. It features a face recognition system that is used to log into the laptop, doing away with biometric readers and passwords. That's not too safe as somebody else could just use a photo of your mug over the webcam to access your cache of data. Other features include a Blu-ray disc drive, an HDMI output, a hybrid HDD with 160GB of storage space and 256MB of flash memory. It runs on an Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 2.2GHz processor which ought to be speedy enough for most Office applications. No word on pricing details though.

POWERbreathe exercises your lungs

POWERbreathe exercises your lungsMan, I had absolutely no idea that there was such a thing known as "breathing power". Apparently, the POWERbreathe Inspiratory Muscle Trainers were designed to restore the mentioned breathing power. You are required to blow into the tube and push the spring-loaded valve in order to exercise those breanthing-control muscles. Theoretically, this exercise is meant to increase your lung capacity which could come in handy helping those suffering from asthma although it won't cure it. I say blowing hundreds of balloons will get the same effect, but doing that won't be as cool as exhaling into this £30 device.
