Vuzix Wrap Video Eyewear - watch films from your
iPod on a visor

Films are moving from the TV screen to visors. Like something out of a sci-fi flick, you can now watch films on a visor. Plug the Vuzix Wrap Video Eyewear into your laptop, DvD, games console or even mobile phone and watch videos on what appears to be a 44 or 67 inch screen.

Pay For Exchange On Motorola Droid (Updated: No
special Exchange pricing)

Pay For Exchange On Motorola Droid?

Updated 11/4/09 8:54am, read below. You know how some cell phone carriers have a habit of turning a great phone into a crippled device? Well, this might almost be one of those scenarios. What are we talking about here? Well, we all know that Motorola’s Droid supports Exchange’s ActiveSync, that’s fine and dandy, the bad news is that Verizon Wireless wants users to pay at least an additional $15 a month on top of their current data plan for Exchange access, bringing the total to $45. Verizon’s reasoning is that the Droid is primarily targeted at consumers, and that the fee also applies to smartphones such as the BlackBerry. Either way, paying more isn’t going to go down well with customers.

Update: Verizon has officially responded, and the previous reports are incorrect. There is no higher pricing to access Exchange. If you are no the $30 plan, Exchange will work just fine. The $45 plan is for corporate accounts, but the higher price has nothing to do with the Exchange access.

Google Busy With Android 2.1

Google Busy With Android 2.1

Android 2.0 from Google won’t be officially out until Friday, but it seems that Google is already busy preparing Android 2.1 for the masses. Of course, considering the relatively short period of time between Android 1.6 and Android 2.0, we shouldn’t be too surprise. Apparently a webmaster of an Android site was tracking the site’s analytics and found that 0.04% of its traffic was coming from Android 2.1 devices. What an amazing find!

Carbon Zero Road Block System

Carbon Zero Road Block System

Want to have a method that your car can generate power as it drives along the road? Well, check out the Carbon Zero road block system. This concept uses blocks on the road, and as you drive over these blocks, the pressure from your car pushes the blocks down, creating kinetic energy. N-type silicon and P-type silicone work together like a battery, creating a DC-direct current. This energy is then turned into AC-alternating current, which can be used for powering electric devices in the homes and businesses near the road. Not too shabby eh? Hopefully we’re looking at a nice and pretty green future.

iPod Touch EasyPay System

iPod Touch EasyPay System

The fact that Apple’s stores use Windows CE-based handhelds to help with their sales has been a running joke for some time, and it looks like Apple is set to tackle that. The new method will see a new iPod touch based point-of-sale system, coupled with an accessory, giving the device powers of a magnetic stripe reader, barcode scanner, and also has Apple’s proprietary payment-processing software. With this, Apple Store employees will be able to use these devices to accept purchases made with credit cards, debit cards and cash, not to mention they can also make returns and active a new iPhone. If you see this appear in any store, do drop us a comment.

Popeye The Audio Visual Robot

Popeye The Audio Visual Robot

Robots are definitely cool, unfortunately they haven’t become commonplace just yet (no, the roomba doesn’t count). A team from Perception On Purpose (POP) has come up with a technology that could facilitate robotic understanding and responses to human behavior, and even conversations. One of the challenges that they encountered was attempting to integrate 2 different sensory models, which are sound and vision, but once they overcame that, the 2 senses helped overcome the limitations of both. The whole deal is quite cool, and you can check out more details from the video here.

New Zelda Game Will Utilize MotionPlus

New Zelda Game Will Utilize MotionPlus?

When the Wii was released, everybody envisioned amazing sword battles with their friends, but things didn’t get really cool until they released the MotionPlus add on for the Wiimote. Now it seems that the upcoming Zelda game will utilize the MotionPlus add on, giving users the potential for 1-to1 motion control, meaning we could probably have some really amazing sword fights. Apparently the MotionPlus will also be used to improve the targeting in the game, unlike in the previous game where you aimed at things by pointing at the screen.
