“In total, the iPad accounted for more than 94 percent of ads,” Chitika, a online advertising network company said. There?s no doubt that the iPad is the dominant force in the tablet market. Up to now, the iPad is still the number one tablet, particularly when it comes to tablet sales. But Chitika’s new study, however, can reveal a new light into the iPad’s value and worth. But a word of caution: Chitika’s traffic does not really represent the “Internet traffic”, so it’s fair to take the numbers with a (big) grain of salt (the Comscore stats seem to contradict the numbers from Chitika, as they give 50% of Android traffic share to the Kindle Fire). Apparently the folks over at Chitika wondered how they could quantify the popularity of today’s tablets. Chitika studied the devices that they are serving ads to, and they found out that nearly 95 percent of their overall traffic in the tablet category is covered by Apple’s tablet. (more…)By Ubergizmo. Audi is planning to bag its second trophy at the 2012 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race. Audi has already proven that its diesel engine technology can indeed break new ground at the 2006 Le Mans. But this year, the German-based car maker will be deploying two of its R18 e-tron quattro cars, using hybrid drive systems. Audi’s hybrid diesel-electric drive systems uses a technology called e-tron. Branded by Audi, it uses an electric motor on the front axle and a V-6 turbo-diesel engine at the rear. Audi’s R18 e-tron quattro is similar to the Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems or KERS used in F1 racing. (more…)By Ubergizmo. Adobe has just released an urgent security patch for its Adobe Flash Player version 184.108.40.206 and earlier versions on Windows, Macintosh and Linux; version 220.127.116.11 and earlier versions for Android 4.x; and 18.104.22.168 and earlier versions for Android 3.x and 2.x. Adobe said that the update released today will address a critical vulnerability in the software so users are encouraged to secure the patch immediately. According to Adobe, the updates addresses a so called “object confusion vulnerability” which can cause the application (Adobe Flash Player) to crash and potentially allow an attacker to manipulate the affected system (in this case your PC).
Apparently there are reports that the security flaw found in older versions of Adobe Flash Player is being exploited and targeted, particularly on the Internet Explorer for Windows. Basically, users are tricked into opening a malicious file via email. Albeit the potential attacks are limited to Windows, Mac users as well as those running on Linux are asked to get the update as well. If you can still remember, a few weeks ago, about 650,000 Macs have been hijacked by the Flashback malware masquerading itself as an update for Adobe’s Flash player. You can get the security patch via Adobe.By Ubergizmo. Related articles: Adobe Acrobat phishing scam surfaces again, Firefox add-on exposes users browsing history,
China is indeed a sleeping giant. According to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology or MIIT, China now has over 1 billion (1.01882 billion to be exact) mobile subscribers as of March this year with a growing rate of 1.18 percent per month. This of course, is not surprising considering that China is currently the most populous country in the world with 1.3 billion people.
But what’s interesting though is a factoid about China made by the research firm Catalyst. According to Catalyst, China has just overtaken the U.S. as the world’s largest smartphone market. Setting aside the number of people in China compared to the U.S., the factoid showed that China’s smartphone market is growing 81 percent per annum while the U.S. is growing 5 percent each year. China accounted for 22 percent of worldwide smartphone shipments whereas the U.S. only had 16 percent.
Still, it’s interesting to see how the country has grown. We know for a fact that the iPhone sales in China is continuously growing and that Apple has a potential huge market there. The iPhone 4S, for example, is currently available on China Telecom and it’s been selling very well. But there’s a bigger opportunity for the Cupertino-based company. Apple has yet to convince China Mobile, the country’s largest mobile carrier, to have the iPhone on its network.By Ubergizmo. You love NBA do you? The NBA Playoffs have begun. And we bet that you’re always glued to the tube watching your favorite team play. But it gets better when you’re an Android user as well. NBA fanatics will be glad to know that EA’s NBA Jam is now available on more Android devices. But now, NBA Jam is now available on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the HTC One X, Asus Transformer Prime, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, the Nexus S and more.
It’s got a price tag though, but considering the quality of entertainment that you will get, not to mention the chance to play Kobe or Dirk, it’s all worth it. NBA Jam is available via Google Play for $4.99. The game features 3 modes of play: Play Now, Classic Campaign, and Local Multiplayer. Similar to the one available for PC, you can also play your favorite basketball stars from all the 30 NBA teams. So whether it’s Miami or Boston, it’s your call. Additional features include Tim Kitrow’s voice and the bonus feature which allows you to unlock the all-time great basketball legends.By Ubergizmo.
