While many programs still do not take advantage of dual core processing, Eurocom has jumped the gun by launching a quad-core laptop known as the Phantom D900C. This laptop is a 17" behemoth that is powered by an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz processor, giving you gaming and workstation-level performance on the go. You can also run a dual video card configuration on the D900C if your budget allows it. The 17" display supports up to 1920 x 1200 native resolution - a figure both designers and gamers can't argue with. Other features include a trio of 2.5" hard drives with RAID capabilities and the ability to hold up to 4GB RAM. Pricing details are currently unknown.

Acer and Ferrari have taken their collaboration one step further by working on a new PDA, although I wonder why this route was taken as PDAs are all but dead. While this unnamed PDA has yet to come with an official set of specifications, I doubt many would pick this up considering the deluge of smartphones that offer way more value for money when compared to a standalone PDA. Still, this Acer/Ferrari partnership have yielded a sweet looking device - hopefully it comes with a speedy processor that will not disappoint the prancing horse from Italy when it comes to performance.

While most of us often shed a tear (or two) when we crack our iPod screen, other more creative people see an opportunity to turn the situation around by transforming the fractured iPod into a miniscule laptop. Owen McGarry is one such person, cutting his iPod in half while maintaining the screen, battery, and audio portions intact. That portion is flipped up at a 45-degree angle just like how most laptops are when open. Amazingly, Owen runs a fully functional Linux operating system on that tiny piece of hardware, although it is pretty mind boggling to figure out just how Owen navigate's through the user interface at such a small resolution. Owen has plans to tack on navigation buttons and a miniscule desk to build the iTop into in the future.

Rubber duckies are old hat - these days the only way to grab your attention during bath time would be to throw in extra attention grabbing stunts such as glowing and dancing rubber duckies. Dubbed the "I Love New Yoku" duckies, each individual rubber duck comes with embedded LED lights within that emit a relaxing glow to help you wind down in the bath tub after a long day's work. Not only that, you can wind these up and watch them go, pretending as if they're grooving to your favorite tunes. Each of these "I Love New Yoku" duckies measure 8cm x 7cm x 6cm and are available in a wide variety of colors, with yellow and white topping the popularity list. If you're averse to ducks, perhaps picking up a frog would be a better choice.

If you're a busy executive who is always on the go, make sure you don't leave a paper trail behind where competitors will be able to sabotage you and your organization later on. The Portable USB Paper Shredder ensures that won't happen as you get to turn private and confidential information into a convoluted mess the moment you're done reading it, as long as the device itself is plugged into any available USB port. Should the USB port be unavailable, a quartet of AA batteries are enough to power the paper-hungry device. The Portable USB Paper Shredder measures 253mm x 69mm 48mm and weighs 351 grams. While it might take up some precious space in your luggage, the importance of throwing P&C data away without giving others a chance to see it is worth the price of less luggage space.

Ubixon is currently working on a next generation Bluetooth headset that comes with a display. This unique device's display features high contrast indoors as well as outdoors without the help of a back light found on existing displays. There is no word on pricing or availability, but it is good to see progress in the field of Bluetooth headsets in different directions other than just shrinking it with each iteration. What other types of functions would you like to see in a Bluetooth headset that would greatly benefit users?

Full HD is something most of the working class still dream of, but time and technology have driven the costs to a more affordable range. Optoma proved this by unveiling the HD80 projector that does 1080p at the relatively affordable price of $2,999. Features of the HD80 stand at 1,300 lumens with a 10,000 to 1 contrast ratio, a couple of 1.3 HDMI ports, DVI with HDCP, component, and composite connections. Sounds like a pretty good deal, especially when you want to hook up your PS3 or Xbox 360 to it for all and sundry to enjoy. Those with deeper pockets can always pick up the HD81-LV which boasts 2,500 lumens, a trio of HDMI ports, and the DarkChip3 that keeps the picture crisp and bright even in a lighted room. The HD81 comes at an inflated price tag of $7,999 though.

Fancy teching up your home's landscape? The Oluce Stone Outdoor Lamps are guaranteed to do the job well, and they are much hardier than they look being made from durable, weather-resistant polyethylene. You can choose from plug-in or hardwired models, where the latter are definitely less messy although you won't be able to move their position once installed. You can thank designers Marta Laudani & Marco Romanelli for coming up with these unique outdoor lamps, but their pedigree don't come cheap at $316 a pop. And to think that that price point doesn't even come with a screw-in fluorescent bulb.

Fancy a pair of headlights that work in tandem with map information stored within your vehicle's navigation system? Denso of Japan offers exactly that with its Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) which moves according to the steering angle and vehicle speed after digesting prior information from the navigation system. Sounds like a great idea when it comes to tackling those dark, unseen corners in unfamiliar territory. Unfortunately, the system is scheduled for commercialization in at least 5 years' time, which sounds like an eternity at this moment.

Toshiba has just dropped the SD-L912A HD DVD-RW drive for notebooks, but that isn't the only good news. The best thing about the SD-L912A is its thickness of a mere 0.5", making it take the slimmest crown at the same time. Too bad the performance does not match up to it's looks, with a snail-like 1x read/write speed at the moment. Early adopters can pick the Toshiba SD-L912A when it is released this July, although if you wait longer, faster drives are bound to appear on the horizon.
