CarCapsule provides protection for your ride

CarCapsule provides protection for your ride

Keeping your new car in pristine condition can be quite a challenge, especially when you park anywhere else but the relative safety of your garage. The CarCapsule targets the paranoid, being made out of super-tough, 10 mil PVC that features anti-static and flame retardant capability. In addition, it is impervious to oil, gas and antifreeze (but not bullets). It comes with a built-in fan to inflate the dome and prevents it from touching the vehicle. You can choose from 8-foot and 22-foot versions that retail for $270 and $420 respectively.

iPod modded to include Bluetooth

iPod modded to include Bluetooth

99% perspiration, 1% inspiration. I suppose the same could be said of this Bluetooth-enabled iPod. You ought to be prepared for the fact that your iPod might be rendered useless should you actually slip up during the modding process, but fortunes favor the brave as I know it. What you’ll need are the following :-

PSP gets solar-powered battery

PSP gets solar-powered battery

With everyone taking on a green stance lately, it is little wonder that Sony's PSP has received a solar-powered battery to help you keep on gaming long after your handheld's battery has run out of natural juice. As everyone knows, the PSP doesn't exactly have a long lasting battery (when compared against the DS Lite anyway), so this nifty little device sounds practical, even more so in places where the power outlets are different since we all use the same sun across the planet. There is no word on the performance of this solar-powered PSP battery, but we do know that it retails for under $30.

HydroPak portable power generator

HydroPak portable power generator [CES 2008] Let's face the fact - most of us carry more than our fair share of gadgets these days that powering them can be quite a hassle, especially when we're off on a long road trip. The HydroPak portable power generator hopes to lighten your load by using a combination of both fuel cells as well as water-activated cartridges courtesy of Millennium Cell and Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies respectively. A HydroPak with a single cartridge is good enough to recharge an average laptop up to 10 times without the need for a power outlet, making it perfect for those traveling to faraway countries. You can check out the HydroPak at CES next week, and it will be commercially available from Q3 onwards this year. The HydroPak retails for $400 while individual cartridges cost $20.

Ladybug speaker is no cutie

Ladybug speaker is no cutie

[CES 2008] The Ladybug speaker you see here certainly won't win any points with those looking for something cute in the market. This iPod speaker is the result of a collaboration between Vestalife and Element Skateboards, resulting in a limited edition version that boasts a bright white skull imprinted on its black and chrome surface. The Vestalife Ladybug comes with a couple of 1.5" tweeters that fold over your iPod's surface, and looks like a pretty decent conversation starter by any means. Behind the Ladybug lies a solitary 3" subwoofer, an auxiliary input, USB port, AV output, and an external power jack. There is no word on pricing on the Vestalife Ladybug which is compatible with all universal-dock iPod models. [Product Page]

The technology week in view: 4th Jan 2008

First off, Happy New Year - the title should really have read “the technology fortnight in view” but frankly not a lot happened in my technological world over Christmas (except for a frightening increase in blobs of plastic lying around the place), and anyway - who’s counting? To kick off 2008 I found a great [...]

Shogo digital photo frame

Shogo digital photo frame What makes one digital photo frame different from another? Well, other than the size, they're pretty much all the same, or are they? Shogo's 8" digital photo frame is different from the rest since it comes with both WiFi connectivity (a must-have feature for today) and touchscreen capability (a must-have feature for tomorrow, perhaps?). Dubbed the SG 080, you get 1GB of internal storage along with a 800 x 600 resolution panel, a multi-memory card reader and an integrated rechargeable battery. ShogoLive users will be able to transfer photos from popular online image portals such as Flickr and Picasa, view RSS feeds as well as stream Internet radio. There is no word on pricing, although word on the street has it that these delectable frames from Shogo will hit retail stores pretty soon.

Emily Clock for your home

Emily Clock for your home

The Emily Clock does things differently by being attached sideways to the wall, so that you can tell the time simply by lying down without having to re-orientate your head. I guess this is one of those "Eureka!" moments that Greg Wolos experienced, coming up with something so simple yet practical, I'm surprised nobody else thought of it before (or maybe they did, but never got around publicizing it via the Internet). While the mounting process might leave some scars on your wall, at least you don't have to lose those precious few seconds each morning as you try to read the time.
