Human Hand iPhone Case

On the heels of of the creepy yet awesome Steve Jobs Carbonite iPhone case comes the Dokkira Hand iPhone 4 Case from Strapya World. As if a silicone and vinyl hand as an iPhone 4 case wasn’t creepy enough this case comes in two versions: Lady’s Hand, made from the COO’s wife’s hand and, uh,  Kid’s Hand. The company mentions not to ask them any questions about the Kid’s Hand version and trust us – we don’t want to know. Even though we can see the camera poking out from behind the pinky finger the fine print says to remove your iPhone from the case before taking pictures, go figure. We have to give Strapya a hand (HA HA) this is one awesome, unusual, and creepy case. The Dokkira Hand iPhone 4 Case could only be more awesome if it integrated the USB Human Thumb Drive we posted about back in 2005. As an added bonus, according to the product description every hand will vary in size and shape as each is unique and individually made. If you’ve got $64.20 burning a hole in your pocket and the desire for hand to hold while you use your phone, look no further. We can think of a few ideas that would make this case the perfect accessory for some really cool Halloween costumes.

Mall Maps arrives on Bing for Mobile

Mall Maps Bing MobileHate getting lost at the mall looking for a certain store or restaurant? Instead of having to traverse all the way to the concierge at ground floor to ask for a map, why not pull out your smartphone instead? Thanks to the folks over at Microsoft, finding out where you need to go in a mall is just a website away because they have launched mall maps for Bing Mobile.

While mall maps was announced quite a while ago, it was meant for desktop browsers, which wasn’t really useful considering that you wouldn’t have your desktop with you when you were out of the house and in a shopping mall. The service has over 400 shopping malls available now, with more on the way in the coming months. Never get lost in a mall again, just head over to m.bing.com on your phone or tablet’s web browser and search for the mall’s name.

Use your webcam to fix your sitting posture

Posture

If you’re sitting in front of the computer all day (for work or for play), having a good posture is pretty important, especially if you want to avoid chronic back problems later in life. There are many ways to deal with it ? you can get a ergonomic chair that forces you to sit up with good posture, you can get somebody who’s willing to watch over you while you’re on the computer, or you can use this new training method devised by some researchers from the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel.

HTC Thunderbolt Gingerbread update to arrive this
quarter

htc thunderbolt review

Verizon’s first 4G LTE phone, the HTC Thunderbolt is a pretty good phone, but it has one glaring problem: the phone still runs on Android 2.2 Froyo. People who aren’t keen on rooting their phone to install a custom ROM have been waiting for the update since the phone was released (its release was delayed for a long time as well) and Verizon still hasn’t given a confirmation for the update’s release.

Android owns over 40% of US smartphone share

comScore smartphone market share

Despite all the ongoing patent infringement litigations and lawsuits that are being served to Android OEMs recently, it looks like nothing can halt the sales of devices running the operating system. comScore has reported that Android is now on 40.1% of all smartphones used by subscribers over the age of 13 in the country. While the increase in growth has been lower than what it’s been experiencing in the previous few quarters, the platform still managed to extend its dominance over the country’s market share.

Philips AmbientLED wins Depeartment of Energys
Lighting Prize

Philips AmbientLEDThe U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has been awarding a Lighting Prize, to any light bulb that worthy of it, since the program launched in 2008. The latest light bulb to earn the coveted “L Prize” is none other than Philip’s AmbientLED light bulb that was released not too long ago. To win the award, the AmbientLED light bulb had to go through some sophisticated tests to make sure that it was durable, usable in practical applications, and functioned well. While those tests may sound easy to pass, we can assure you that the DOE gave the light bulbs nothing short of a major work out to push them to their limits.

Who would’ve thought so much work went into the creation and testing of light bulbs? Then again, with a prize of $10 million, I’m sure the DOE wouldn’t want to simply give it away. With the AmbientLED light bulb snagging first place after such rigorous testing from the DOE, you can be pretty sure that these light bulbs have been proven to work, and they do their job well. Check out the video of the testing process to see what each light bulb in the test went through:

Nokia N9 arrives in 49 days

Nokia N9 Countdown

The Nokia N9 is being released in 49 days. Yes, it’s true. And if you’re wondering how I found out, a quick visit to the Nokia N9 Swedish website will tell you. In fact, at the time of writing, we have 49 days, 5 hours, 44 minutes and 25 seconds left until the release of the Nokia N9, Nokia’s first (and last) commercially available MeeGo phone (the N950 is a developer phone, so it’s not considered to be commercially available).

If we do some simple math, this means that the Nokia N9 will be arriving in Sweden on September 23rd. As for the rest of the world, we’re yet to find out; but if you’re keen on getting the N9 this September, I suggest you start booking your flights to Sweden now. How many of you are eagerly anticipating the N9′s arrival?
