From all the BlackBerry phone leaks we’ve seen in the recent months, one thing most of the phones have is in common is the presence of a touchscreen. It looks like RIM are finally playing catch up and it’s no surprise if the next version of the BlackBerry OS features a more touch-centric user interface. 4 videos of the OS in action have found their way online, showing off what the next version of the OS will be like. It’s unconfirmed if it’s the real deal, but from what we can see so far it looks great, though some people might question the usefulness of touchscreen controls on such a small display. Regardless, it looks like we’ll be seeing more touchscreen BlackBerry phones in the future. Anybody stoked? Hit the break to watch the videos:

Everybody seems intent on bringing the flip phone back, but nobody has really succeeded in capturing its essence ever since its phase ended. But Dave Schultze might have just done it with his latest concept creation, The Triple Flip. When having one side to flip isn’t enough, you get two sides to flip out, as well as a slide out QWERTY keyboard as well. Running on Windows Phone 7, it doesn’t really need the keypads to function, but when it comes to playing games on the phone, (i.e. first person shooters) they could prove to be very useful. Multi-axis hinges and pivoting wings means that you’ll be able to use the phone to watch videos or video call hands-free. One of the more interesting phones we’ve seen recently. Hit the break to watch a video demonstration of the concept phone:

Add to myYahoo! The OCZ Vertex 3 SSD is based on the second-generation SandForce's SF-2281 (index.php?option=com_content task=view id=665 Itemid=60) SATA 6Gb/s controller and maintains all of the original core technology introduced in the original SF-1200 series, but now improves SSD performance with 20% faster IOPS and 40% faster sequential read/write throughput. OCZ promises 60,000 IOPS at up to 550 MB/s transfer speeds with the Vertex 3 SSD, and Benchmark Reviews confirms that they're keeping this promise with tests of the new storage device on a B3-stepping Sandy Bridge platform against the Crucial RealSSD C400.

Folks who want to get their hands on a piece of technological history, might have their interest piqued at this news: Britain’s oldest working television, the 75-year-old Marconi type-702, will be going on sale at the Bonhams Mechanical Music and Scientific Instruments sale later this month. The 12″ TV works perfectly, with only 30% of its original parts replaced (with identical parts), so it’s practically a machine that’s been preserved throughout the years. It has a pre-sale value of £5,000 ($8,000) ? more than enough for you to purchase a high-end 3D HDTV, but hey ? if you’re already buying a TV that costs that much, it probably isn’t too heavy on your wallet in the first place. The Bonhams Mechanical Music and Scientific Instruments sale will be held at Knightsbridge, London on April 19.

If you’ve got a large stack of old photographs that you’d like to convert into digital pictures, scanning them with a conventional scanner is going to take a lot of time. This is where the Desktop Photo to Digital Picture Converter comes in. Essentially, it is just a digital camera with a tray, and instead of scanning your old photographs, the Converter snaps a picture of the photograph using a 5 megapixel CMOS sensor. So while the quality won’t be as great as a good old fashioned photo scan, if you’re not too picky about detail, the 600 DPI image you get from the convertor should be sharp enough for you. However, its fixed size really limits its usefulness to 4R or smaller sized shots. So while it can be really useful, it won’t be for folks who have larger prints to convert. The Desktop Photo to Digital Picture Converter is available now for $99.95.

The folks over at Taser have come up with a new form of human incapacitation ? a 50,000 volt projectile in the form of the Taser Grenade. Such grenades can be used from much further distances than regular Taser guns which have a limited range due to the wires that send the current into the victim. But these new Taser Grenades don’t have that limitation, and can be shot from far. While it doesn’t explode upon impact, inflicting splash damage upon an area, the unlucky victim that the grenade manages to latch onto will feel the pain of 50,000 volts coursing through his/her body. Testing for the weapon is still being done right now, but it sure looks pretty painful right now. Hit the break to watch a The Daily reporter experience the Taser Grenade first hand:
