Guess the iPhone 3GS didn't make that huge an impact in China as most people thought, as China Unicom signed up a mere 5,000 iPhone subscribers during the first four days of its availability. The carrier is pleased with its performance though, despite sales figures that certainly won't come near what the US and Europe are able to achieve, and what more in a country that has over a billion in terms of population. Perhaps their lack of purchasing power is a main criteria in sluggish sales, but lets give it a couple of years to see if there is any progress.

Word on the street has it that Verizon Wireless might be offering the Sony Vaio P netbook for a mere $299 albeit with a 2-year contract. Sounds like a pretty decent deal no matter how you look at it, where you will snag the highly portable Vaio P alongside Windows 7, a 160GB hard drive and 2GB RAM. There is also a chance of a $100 rebate happening with this deal, but really, all that's left to be done would be to wait until Thursday when Verizon makes an official announcement on their business matters.

Bell has designated the Samsung Omnia II as the official handset for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games that will happen in February next year at Vancouver, Canada. Owners can download Samsung’s Wireless Olympic Works (WOW) that allows them to have a firm overview of all the happenings during the Olympics. No idea on pricing, but it ought to go on sale from next month onwards.

LaCie's Network Space 2 is the company's latest NAS and media server designed by the famous Neil Poulton who already has had a hand in a bunch of previous LaCie products. Preloaded with LaCie Network Assistant, the Network Space 2 will enable users to customize the dashboard with a smattering of widgets, giving them the potential to access networks and drive information alongside other vital statistics such as user accounts and drive capacity. You will be able to stream multimedia files to any UPnP/DLNA compliant devices, while iTunes server software allows your machine to play content directly from the drive in lieu of local iTunes libraries. Connectivity options include gigabit Ethernet and USB 2.0, where the LaCie Network Space 2 will come with a 1TB capacity in Europe without any word on pricing just yet. Worldwide availability will follow shortly thereafter.

Just how much more affordable do you think the Xbox 360 Arcade can get? This $199 bundle will apparently come with a $100 gift card from Walmart from this Saturday onwards, which is great news if this rumor turns out to be true. No idea on how many casual gamers would pick up this bundle though.

Add to myYahoo! Those who are rocking to Symbian S60-powered handsets from Nokia will finally be able to take advantage of Google Search by Voice, making searches a whole lot easier assuming the software algorithm gets your pronounciation right. After all, speaking to a device a long search phrase sure beats typing it via a keyboard. Interestingly enough, Google Mobile App will also recognize and support Mandarin Chinese, the most spoken language in the world at the moment (and for the forseeable future, of course).

At first glance, the EOps i24R3 Portable speaker might seem to be a sort of concept device, but in reality it is very different. This is an actual, wireless, waterproof, single-speaker surround sound system that boasts a single sealed sound chamber that has been filled with a suitable amount of speakers in order to deliver a somewhat authentic surround sound experience. Powered by an internal lithium polymer battery, the i24R3 lacks inputs but will rely on 2.4GHz wireless USB or A2DP Bluetooth connectivity to stream audio from.
