Dell Studio Line

Dell Studio Line

Dell has a new line that will fall between the XPS and Inspiron range, known as the Studio. Word on the street has it that the new machines will be the rumored 1535 and 1735 notebooks, where the former will also come in AMD flavor, going by the model number 1536. It would be interesting to see how the design is like on this, as the Inspiron is like a perpetually ugly duckling while the XPS might be a wee bit too slick for business use. Hopefully the Studio range will take the middle path, and please include an SSD option in the mix as well since that is clearly the path we must forge forward in order for the industry to evolve. Higher adoption rate and better manufacturing processes will equate to lower prices for everyone, or at least that's what my economics professor taught me.

Concept Virtual Goggles

Concept Virtual Goggles

Check out this pair of concept virtual goggles that ought to have a place in every call center worldwide - don't you think it looks just too cool? After all, being in clear plastic, it looks as though the goggles display some sort of built-in HUD to help with the tasks at hand. Gotta love how the microphone sticks out in one sweeping movement - I wonder whether this piece of plastic (or so that's what it looks like) is easily breakable or not.

Cannondale to offer iPod Option

Cannondale to offer iPod Option

Cannondale is currently mulling over an upgrade on their bicycles by offering the advantage of docking an iPod on it. As with any other dock, it will be set right in front of the rider ala vehicle dashboard. The iPod will not only play back your favorite tunes as you hit the dirt trail, it will also display your speed, distance covered, and calories burned among others. Don't worry about running out of juice, since it will be powered by the bike itself (as long as you're moving I guess). There is a possibility of a rearview video-camera that helps you focus on what's bearing down on your behind (No officer, I wasn't speeding for Pete's sake!).

AudiOdyssey for the Blind

AudiOdyssey for the Blind

Are video games just for those who can see? Apparently not, as MIT's Gambit Game Lab is currently working on AudiOdyssey, a title on the Nintendo Wii that will target the visually impaired. Needless to say, this is an audio-based title where you play according to sound, mimicking a DJ who is trying to conjure a catchy beat to keep the crowd moving. The whole idea is to use the Wiimote, moving it around to get a decent rhythm going then adding on more layers for an aural crescendo. Since the Wii isn't exactly too common yet, this game is also compatible with a regular keyboard.

Best Buy to trial free electronics recycling

In what I only hope is the tip of the iceberg, Best Buy is testing out a free recycling program at 117 of its 922 stores across 8 states and DC. This is great news. So far, many of the big electronics retailers do offer some form of e-cycling, but charge fees to handle most [...]
