emWave2 helps you de-stress

Instead of going out to get a Balinese massage at the local parlor the next time you feel all strung up due to office work, how about getting technology to assist you instead of being in touch with another human? HeartMath’s emWave2 (there’s an older model as well) might just be able to do the trick as a self-tracking mobile device which intends to help change your response to stress, which will indirectly let you live out a far healthier lifestyle. Expect CES 2012 to be the platform where HeartMath parades its emWave2 in all of its glory. Hopefully when one gives the emWave2 a go, he/she would be able to look like the model that you see above, being in perfect harmony not only with herself, but seemingly with the rest of the world as well. Pat your cat remotely with DIY project

When the Wiimote was first released, it was laughed at, with some calling it “waggle controls” – something that a true blue gamer would not be caught dead using it. Fast forward some years, and all three consoles have some sort of motion control capability. Well, motion control is not only good for gaming, but with the proper kind of hack and modification applied to it, it can actually be used for other things, such as petting your cat remotely. Taylor Valtrop is one such enterprising roboticist who decided to put together a robot which can groom a cat – remotely. This is not a cheap project to do though, so I believe it will hardly be verified and tested by others, unless you are willing to fork out $15,000 for the Nao robot, who is controlled over Wi-Fi, aided by complex software to help it get around. Still, for less the $20,000 thereabouts to build, it is still cheaper than the millions required for most companies to come up with something similar. I wonder whether someone will develop a teleoperation robot to send hugs and kisses over to our loved ones…

Boxie robot is no bimbo

How come we are often led to believe that when it comes to choosing a life partner or friends, we are entitled to either looks or brains? Why not both? Now, robots might pique your curiosity but they certainly do not make everyone want to come up to them and start a conversation. Heck, I would say that clowns have a higher success rate of doing so with other humans than robots do, so in order to level the playing field, some folks at the MIT Media Lab decided to bring to life a robot that appeals to our desire for cuteness – releasing a robot that uses its adorable looks instead of artificial intelligence in order to carry out a conversation with humans. Hot Coffee mod might hit GTA 3 for iOS and
Android

Remember the infamous Hot Coffee mod that turned the attention to video games for a while way back in 2004? Well, that was a pretty slick move to ensure that Grand Theft Auto 3 on the PC lasted longer than it should, and gamers started to get all excited by introducing a slew of items that range from new cars to weapons and skins through in-game file modification. It seems that it can be 2004 all over again with GTA 3 for the iOS and Android platforms, as there are whispers that versions for both portable titles also share the same weakness as the PC version, considering they use a similar file structure that allows you to modify the game in a jiffy through some tweaks, as well as the installation of additional files. Doing so on your iOS device might be more difficult, no thanks to the rigid protection that Apple has set up for iOS, so that means you will need to jailbreak your device beforehand. Do you think no one can resist the thought of a Hot Coffee mod being made available on the portable platform? I thought so, too.

Asus Transformer Prime gets GPS fix in firmware
update

There is a new firmware update rolled out for the Asus Transformer Prime that is said to mend any issues that one has with the GPS lock-on function. Bear in mind that this over-the-air (OTA) patch is different from the firmware update that was rolled out to the masses last week for improved stability purposes. This latest update is said to being the build up to version 8.8.3.33, where it has been touted to “enhance GPS speed” thanks to the automatic downloading of satellite locations tables whenever you are connected to a Wi-Fi network. Of course, the GPS fix is not the only “new” thing that makes it to the market – there are additional changes introduced as well such as better touch response in addition to a superior camera focusing ability. It must be said that this firmware has so far made an appearance on Asus’ Germany Facebook page which is rather strange, so hopefully the Transformer Prime worldwide will be able to get their issues fixed. Are you one of those who are affected by the less-than-reliable GPS on the Asus Transformer Prime?

Kitty Twitty lets your cat tweet

Don’t you think that it is rather ironic for Twitter, a brand that has a bird for its mascot, to be used by a cat? Most of the time, we see cats in comics and cartoons sporting a couple of feathers in their mouth, marking the success of their most recent hunting expedition. Well, this is one ‘bird’ that they might not be able to get enough of, going to show that birds might just have far more lives than the 9 which the cat possesses. Check out the Kitty Twitty, a DIY project that comes encased in wood, where it will hold the precious innards that contain all the relevant parts that will ensure your feline friend tweets you each time it plays with it.
