Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer more
details revealed

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
At the Call of Duty XP event that started today, attendees finally got to try Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for the first time, and judging by a handful of blogs I’ve spotted ? preliminary reports are looking pretty positive (despite all the ?dislikes? the YouTube video has been getting). The experience has been said to be different, yet it retains the feel of the previous CoD games. As we mentioned before in our post about the released multiplayer trailer, the game features new mechanics such as no kill streak resets after death for support mode, and in the trailer we can see players collecting dog tags.

Samsung releases Pure Breeze Launcher

Samsung Pure BreezeSamsung has taken its first (well if you count TouchWiz, then second) foray into the world of Android launchers with the release of the Samsung Pure Breeze Launcher. For those not familiar with Android, launchers are basically apps that change the UI of the operating system. It is one of the main reasons why Android doesn’t have a uniform look. Some examples of popular launchers on Android are ADWLauncher and Launcher Pro.

The recently released Samsung Pure Breeze works by replacing your homescreen with one main screen and lets you place all your apps into different categories so you’ll have an easier time locating them. It’s not a bad idea, but it’s also nothing that hasn’t been done before.

Amazon tablet details leaked

Amazon tablet
TechCrunch has got some breaking news concerning Amazon’s upcoming tablet. And before you say anything ? yes it is real, at least according to MG Siegler’s report. He managed to get his hands on a Design Verification Testing version of the tablet, and according to him, it’s going to be a tablet that will be “on many people’s holiday wish-list this year”. A pretty bold statement, but that’s up for you to decide whether it’s true or not.

Second batch of HP TouchPad tablets rumored to
arrive in October

HP TouchPad

After HP announced on its blog its intentions to put the HP TouchPad on sale again, people wondered when they’d be able to get their hands on the tasty $99 webOS tablets. While HP hasn’t made it officially known, DigiTimes has reported that we’ll be seeing a late October release for the remaining HP TouchPad tablets. HP’s manufacturers are believed to have enough parts to produce about 100,000 to 200,000 units of the tablet.

And for those of you who are waiting for the smaller 7? TouchPad Go? You won’t have to wait anymore, the tablet has been reported to have been abandoned. But with the 10? version going for sale at $99, it’s not like HP is going to release a tablet that’s going to cost less than that. Those of you who have yet to purchase the HP tablet, keep your eyes peeled especially if the tablet sells as well as it did when the fire sale was announced.

iPhone 5 lost: police impersonated by Apple
employees (Updated)

Apple logoA few days ago we reported that Apple had allegedly misplaced the iPhone 5 in a bar…again. However when publications attempted to verify the story with San Francisco?s police department, they were told that there was no such report filed. That sounds rather suspicious, doesn’t it? Granted it could have been chalked up to Apple perhaps requesting SFPD for their discretion, at least until this report just surfaced.

Sergio Calderon, the man whose home was raided, claimed that six officials wearing badges stopped by his home and began questioning him and searched his home and his car, and even asked him about his family?s immigration status. One of the officials, Anthony Colon, then left Sergio with his contact information, and when SF Weekly called, it turns out that Colon was not working for the SFPD, but was rather a former San Jose police officer, who according to his LinkedIn profile (removed, but here?s the cached version), is currently working for Apple as a Senior Investigator.

If this is true, what this implies is that the team that Apple sent to retrieve the supposedly lost iPhone 5 were impersonating officers of the law, a crime punishable up to a year in jail in the state of California. SFPD has stated that this is something they will look into, but only if Calderon speaks to them directly.

?This is something that?s going to need to be investigated now,? SFPD spokesman Lt. Troy Dangerfield said, when informed about the Bernal Heights man?s statements to SF Weekly. ?If this guy is saying that the people said they were SFPD, that?s a big deal.?

This story is certainly not over, and at some point, Apple is probably going to intervene publicly. The question is: will it be before, or after things get completely out of control?

Update – According to a new report published by SF Weekly, SFPD has changed its tune about how they did not know about the incident. According to SFPD’s spokesman Lt. Troy Dangerfield, out of the six officials who went the Calderon’s house, “three or four” of them belonged to SFPD but were wearing plainclothes at that time.

This was  the reason why Calderon even agreed to the search in the first place, as he was under the impression that the two officials who entered his house to search for the missing iPhone were SFPD officers.

Battlefield 3 Physical Warfare Pack trailer
released

Battlefield 3
Disappointed with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3′s multiplayer trailer that was released earlier today? Not to worry, EA and DICE have a more compelling trailer for you guys. Clocking in at slightly above one minute, this fast-paced Battlefield 3 trailer shows off the Physical Warfare Pack: items you get as a bonus when you pre-order the game. Not only will the items give you an edge over your opponents, they will only be available to pre-order customers for a period of time (no mention of how long that will be) before they are unlocked for for everybody to use.

As usual, gameplay footage does look fantastic, and we can’t wait to play the game when it goes on sale. Check out the video after the break, and head over to Origin if you’d like to pre-order the game today.
