Toshiba to show slim HD-DVD drive

Toshiba to show slim HD-DVD drive
Toshiba look set to lift the curtains on their new HD-DVD 1x drive for notebooks when CEATEC rolls around. Although HD-DVD drives are now available on various notebooks, this offering from Toshiba is slightly different as it comes in an extremely slim design which will bode well for notebook manufacturers. Toshiba has issued a statement that sample drives will be made available to vendors by the end of the year - that means us consumers could see notebooks carrying these spanking new drives as early as the first half of 2007. It would be interesting to see Toshiba include these new drives in its Qosmio Media Center line of notebooks.

Largest rear projection TV from JVC
Victor Company from Japan has successfully developed the world's largest rear projection TV. This behemoth measures 110" across diagonally, with a screen size of 243.5cm x 137cm. The display device is made from JVC's proprietary reflective liquid crystal panel "D-ILA" that is capable of projecting full High Definition images at 1920 x 1080p resolution.Power consumption is rated at 220W, so you don't have to worry about it taking up more juice than your PC. Wallet 2.0: A Modular, Gadget Friendly Wallet

wallet.jpg
Made of silicone, Wallet 2.0 is allegedly voluminous enough to carry everything one carries in their old-fashioned wallets, and even formerly wallet-verboten items such as MP3 player and memory cards. Each wallet comes with five refill sheets (these seem to be akin to letter tabs in a filing cabinet) which you can used to keep all that stuff organised.

Wallet 2.0 is pliable enough to be carried in the front or back pocket, able to be worn on a lanyard or keychain (thanks to a handy-dandy side-located strap holes) and comes in five colours: white, red, blue, green & black. Handy? Surely. But is a "fashion symbol?"
