The Gigabyte T1125 convertible Windows 7 tablet has gotten some pumped up specs and a nice dock to accompany the device while it rests away on the top of your desk, similar to Gigabyte's Booktop solution. First off, the T1125 will now ship with either an Intel Core i3 or i5 processor, with emerging markets to get the lower spec Core 2 Duo ULV chips. The 11.6-inch laptop will feature an 1366 X 768 display that can rotate into tablet mode, either 2GB or 4GB of RAM, 320 GB or 500 GB HDD, Intel graphics or optional NVIDIA Optimus 310M GPU. WiFi, Bluetooth, 1.3-megapixel webcam, USB 2.0, HDMI, memory card reader, audio in/out all make the cut as well, with options for USB 3.0 and a 3G modem. The device also has a docking station, which will orient the laptop vertically and has an optical drive. There is no pricing nor release date for the devices at this time.

Alongside of the launch of the Ziio tablets, Creative also debuted a small personal media player by the name of the Zen Touch 2, which also runs on the Android operating system. Seen as a rival to the Samsung Galaxy Player, the Zen Touch 2 features a 3.2-inch touchscreen, 2-megapixel rear camera, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, 8 GB or 16 GB built-in storage, micro SDHC support, RCA out, and GPS capabilities as a premium. The GPS functionality is rare on a standalone MP3 player sans phone functionality as this inclusion will help the Zen Touch 2 serve as a navigation unit in addition to music play back. Because it lacks constant Internet connection--unless you're powering it with a MiFi unit or travel in heavily blanketed WiFi zones--you'll probably need a standalone GPS navigation program with locally stored maps on a memory card, like the recently released Navigon for Android or CoPilot.

Windows Phone 7, which had just recently launched for sale internationally, is seeing shortages. The shortage isn't attributed to any one particular manufacturer, and carrier Orange sent an internal email to its stores stating that the shortage is caused by a "manufacturer issue on a world-wide scale" and that the situation isn't isolated to any one OEM or carrier. In the UK, Orange had to issue rain checks and complimentary vouchers to those who braved the lines but were not able to obtain a Windows Phone 7 smartphone. Perhaps Microsoft and its partners had been a bit more conservative with their launch production. Either way, the early demand for Windows Phone 7 may be good news for Microsoft, even if the companies involved aren't able to fulfill all the demand at this point.

Add to myYahoo! "Internet and television fuse: what's in it for you?" is Sponsored by Intel SmartTV

Unless you're vegging by yourself, TV watching has always been a social activity. You gather for a raucous Super Bowl party. You sit with family and friends and feel superior while you hoot and hollar at talentless American Idol wannabees, misbehaving reality show housewives, or blind referees and athletes who fail to fulfill your expectations.
Will these TV watching social interactions change with the new generation of smart connected TVs? It already has. Twittering while watching a show has become commonplace even among folks without smart TVs via laptops and smartphones cradled while couch potatoing. These social TV watching activities slowly but surely are being merged from two devices into the smart TV.
But anytime you mush together two previously divergent technologies, the sum often becomes more than its parts. Add in TV's visual capabilities and the boob tube might become party central. TV socializing technologies, however, are still evolving, but break down into three distinct activities: recommendation, chatting while watching and video telephony.
