The Google Body app that was shown off during the Honeycomb presentation last month has finally made its way onto the Android Market. If you’ve ever wanted to know what your body looks like, in a layer by layer tour of your skin down to your bones, this app is for you. The app that was specially released for Honeycomb tablets won’t run on older versions of Android, so you’ll need the Motorola Xoom to run this app (at least until other Honeycomb tablets hit the scene). It takes full advantage of the tablet’s powerful Tegra 2 processor to provide you with an accurate 3D representation of the entire human body. The app is available for free and can be downloaded from the Android Market now. Watch a video demonstration of Google Body in action after the break:

It looks like HTC really meant it when they said that the HTC Merge will be available this spring. The long-awaited Android phone that was officially announced last week has finally paid a visit to the FCC. It comes with a Verizon user guide, so we know that Verizon will be carrying this world phone when it is released. The Android QWERTY slider that resembles the Desire Z/G2 will pack both CDMA and GSM radios, a 3.8″ touchscreen, Android 2.2, a 5 megapixel camera, GPS, WiFi, and Bluetooth. Now all we do is wait for a price and release date. Anybody getting this phone over the ThunderBolt 4G?

There’s no doubt that you have heard of the iPad 2 launch this morning. While iPad 2 did not generate as much buzz as its predecessor, it is still one of the biggest launches of 2011 (to date, the year is far from over). Later in the day, many people asked me “so what’s new?”, not because they hadn’t seen what was new, but because they thought that they had missed something.
But they did not, there was simply not that many new things: in a nutshell, the iPad 2 is faster, smaller, better — for the same price. This is the quintessential upgrade in a consumer electronics world. Apple has amplified the strengths of the iPad (size, design, user interface) while addressing the most asked-for requests (cameras, performance, bulky cases, wireless playback…).

Sprint has recently sent out invitations to the media about an upcoming conference they will be holding on March 22 during the CTIA event. With no clue to what they might be showing off, besides the vague tagline, “Sprint pulls back the curtain with the latest in wireless innovation at CTIA,” it’s anybody’s guess to what they mean. Fortunately March 22 is only a few weeks away and we won’t have to wait long to find out. In the meantime, any guesses to what it could be? A revolutionary new phone? A new wireless standard? Let’s hope they mean it when they say “latest in wireless innovation”.

Qualcomm, the manufacturers of the popular Snapdragon processors that are used to run Android phones, has recently released a teaser video to show off their upcoming dual-core processors. Called Desert Winds, the game shows off the graphic processing prowess of the next generation Snapdragon CPUs. Their dual-core processor features the Adreno 220 graphics processor that is capable of more 3D effects, smoother stereoscopic HD gaming, and is touted to be power-efficient as well (it won’t kill your phone’s batter). Qualcomm has been late to the dual-core scene, but the teaser shows us that what they have in store for us is worth the wait. In the near future they will also be promoting premium content that’s been optimized to run on their processors. Hit the break to watch the Desert Winds trailer and be amazed at what games can look like on next generation phones:

One of the great things about inPulse, the “smartwatch” is its ability to run apps. You might be thinking, what sort of apps should it run? The most common apps would be to read Twitter feeds, maybe news headlines or Facebook updates. Well the lead designed of inPulse, Eric Migicovsky has just developed an app that allows him to check-in to Facebook Places by feeding off the GPS data from his Android phone. The app isn’t available for download yet, but it shows the versatility of what you can do with the inPulse watch. Hit the break to check out a video explaining the Facebook check-in app:
