PS Vita Review

Ps Vita ReviewIn a world where mobile gaming has radically changed over the past few years, there is intense pressure for “traditional” mobile gaming hardware vendors to attract, or retain gamers. Of course, competing platform -mainly smartphones- have a great advantage of having a killer-app, namely “voice”, that makes them nearly ubiquitous, which made them popular gaming platforms as a side-effect (you rarely buy a smartphone+subscription “to play”). Although touch gaming has an undeniable success by any metric (downloads, money…), the question for any dedicated gaming hardware is: is it good enough to get users to buy and carry another device?

8 year old uses Find My iPhone, stumbles across
$350,000 in stolen items

Apple?s Find My iPhone tool is a pretty useful tool especially for those trying to track down a misplaced or even stolen iOS device. Well one 8-year boy by the name of Landon Crabtree did just that when his family?s house was broken in to and the burglars made off with his family?s iPad amongst other things, except that he might have gotten more than he bargained for.

Utilizing the Find My iPhone tool, not only did Landon Crabtree track his family?s iPad to a hotel where the thief had stashed his stolen goods, but the police that was sent to that location discovered a pile of stolen property from about 100 burglaries that amounted to about $350,000! We can imagine how chuffed this 8 year old boy must be feeling knowing that he helped recover stolen items belonging to many people. Head on down to MSNBC for the interview that they had with Landon and his family. So, have any of you guys got great Find My iPhone stories to share as well?

Meizu MX and M9 receives Android 4.0 public beta
update

Meizu?s MX and M9 Android smartphones feature some pretty decent hardware, but unfortunately they are only available in China at the moment you?ve managed to get them imported. Well the good news for our readers in China or for those who have imported the device is that Meizu is pushing out the public beta of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The manufacturer had been working on the update for a while and after a month of private testing, it seems that a public beta is ready for the masses. Even better news is that it appears that Meizu decided not to follow the path of their competitors and has released Android 4.0 without a custom UI on top. No word on when a finalized version of Android 4.0 will be available for Meizu MX or M9 users, but for now it looks like you guys will have to make do with the public beta.

Microsoft/Nokias ad campaign pokes fun at iOS and
Android

video details and more

Microsoft?s Windows Phone platform could be considered to be a competitor for iOS and Android, and it looks like Microsoft has wasted no expense at pushing their platform onto the masses in a recent campaign called Smartphone Beta Test. In a series of videos, Microsoft/Nokia appears to be poking fun at their iOS and Android competition by pointing out several of their competitors? ?flaws?. This includes the ?death grip? which iPhone 4 owners refer to as the ?Antennagate? incident, and OLED displays that are popular amongst Samsung and other Android manufacturers. Putting their rivalry aside for just a moment and assuming these videos aren?t an April Fool?s gag, these ads are pretty hilarious, so if you want to see the rest of the videos, head on down to the Smartphone Beta Test website linked above.

Sword and Swocery EP could be making its way onto
Steam

iOS gamers might be familiar with the indie game, Sword & Sworcery EP, and it seems that thanks to Indie Games Magazine, a reference to the game was found in Steam?s registry using the Marlamin tool, suggesting that we could be seeing the game make its way onto non-iOS devices in the near future. The tool has so far has been reportedly reliable when it comes to digging up information on Steam?s upcoming games ahead of their official announcements.

For those who are unfamiliar with the game, Sword & Sworcery EP is an RPG game that instead of blowing gamers away with beautiful graphics and effects, focuses on the storytelling aspect of the game instead with their use of pixel art and a soundtrack provided by Jim Guthrie. It?s a pretty interesting game although for those who are looking for character upgrades, powerful weapons, tons of monsters and a hack-and-slash experience, this game probably isn?t for you.
