Panasonic LUMIX twin-lens 3D digital camera to
roll out in 2011

We do know that Panasonic is working on a new kind of LUMIX digital camera that is said to debut at IFA 2011, and the most recent press release touts a winter release date. Just what does this compact digital camera offer? For starters, it allows you to snap 3D photos as well as capture your favorite memories in stereoscopic 3D glory, in HD resolution to boot.

Just how did this particular new camera cram in all the features into a relatively small body? For starters, it will make use of a couple of newly developed 4x zoom lenses thanks to thin, folded optics. With its optical zoom system, it will deliver highly versatile 3D shooting with wide angle to telephoto, not to mention an Optical Image Stabilizer that will also be hard at work regardless of whether you shoot 2D and 3D images/videos.

HTC Titan hands-on

So we talked about the HTC Titan earlier in the day, which will be one of the spanking new Windows Phone Mango smartphones that certainly has a display that reflects its name – sporting a 4.7″ screen that dwarfs even the new Galaxy S II?s 4.5″ screen. This Super LCD display does not really impress with its resolution though at 800 x 480 pixels, which is similar to what the 3.8″ screen that is available on the HTC Radar. Well, at least it has a super thin 0.4″ aluminum case to make up for the lack in resolution.

The initial hands-on by our friends at Laptopmag feel that those who message heavily will find the HTC Titan to be heaven-sent, especially when you have additional real estate for typing purposes. Outlook users will also find the Titan to be worth their while, and considering how the Windows Phone operating system is said to deliver one of the best touch keyboards around, it will make for the perfect blend if you’re looking for a new Windows Phone Mango handset.

If you want to know more about the hardware specifications concerning the HTC Titan can be found in our earlier post.

Pico Dolly to rival CineSkates

The CineSkates project has proved to be far more successful than even what the inventors thought it would – having raised nearly 10 times the original intended amount of $20,000 in pre-orders. Well, Emm at CheesyCam has something which is not too different from the CineSkates – dubbing it the Pico Dolly.

This is basically a super small portable dolly system that will cater for your video-capable camera, enabling you to shoot smooth tracking shots without having to purchase bulky and expensive equipment. The Pico Dolly costs $65 a pop, while those who prefer something more and fork out $90 will receive not only the Pico Dolly, but an 11″ friction arm to boot. Watch a video fo the Pico Dolly in action after the jump.

Microsoft sued after collecting WP7 location data
without permission

Apple was on the receiving end of some heavy handed flak for their location-based tracking services, and Microsoft might be walking in their shoes right now after a recent class action lawsuit that was filed in a Seattle district court claims that Microsoft?s Windows Phone 7 operating system also collects users? location data, and to make matters more intringuiing – this happens despite users being given the chance to opt out.

Why would Microsoft bother to offer users a “choice” which is then ignored? That is certainly a strange move for the software giant to make, and where does the offending code lie? Well, it currently resides in Windows Phone 7?s camera application, and this was discovered by Samy Kamkar who determined that location and identifier data were being transmitted regardless of your earlier choice – heck, even beginning before you had a chance to make your decision on-screen.

Kobo eReader Touch Edition arrives in German
flavor

Remember the Kobo eReader Touch Edition that we covered slightly more than a week ago that hit Best Buy? Well, it has now arrived in Germany, where over 80,000 German language titles in addition to 2.5 million eBooks are available for your reading pleasure, literally making it the largest eBookstore in Germany by far. Among the popular titles include the Perry Rhodan Series, Stieg Larsson’s “Verdammnis,” “Der ultimative Ratgeber fur alles” (Dieter Nuhr) and “Die Frau an seiner Seite” (Heribert Schwan).

It makes sense for Kobo to roll out the official launch at IFA 2011 which is held in Berlin, Germany, where visitors will be able to give Kobo’s localized German Touch eReader a run for its money right on the spot. Kobo will also put on offer free German-language apps for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android, where there is also an eReading app available for PlayBook as well. Apart from being localized, everything else about the Kobo eReader Touch Edition remains the same in terms of hardware as with the North American version. [Press Release]
