Microsoft shows their rather ruthless side by killing off their Courier tablet project simply because it did not adhere to the company?s two main businesses – which is Windows and Office, and in some way, Microsoft probably feared that should the Courier tablet actually take off in a big way, it would cannibalize and threaten the sales of those two businesses. CNet’s in-depth report claimed that it was Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates who then steered Steve Ballmer towards doing away with the project.

If you think you’re looking for an exciting way to fly, the German engineers over at e-volo have the perfect suggestion for you: an electric multicopter. In case you’re wondering what it is, it’s basically an exercise ball attached to a chair that’s surrounded by multiple mini helicopters. The passenger sits on the chair in the center of this “vehicle” and basically hopes for the best. The multicopter is controlled via radio control from someone on the ground (like an unmanned aerial vehicle).

I don’t know about you, but when I heard of the name “Duqu virus”, the first thing that came to my mind was that of Count Dooku – could a Star Wars fan be behind the Duqu virus that exploited a previously unknown bug in the Windows operating system? It seems that security experts are already whispering among themselves, claiming that this could very well be the next big cyber threat looming upon the horizon.

I know, I know, the netbook market is slowly but surely dying – it cannot be helped, as tablets have more or less taken over the world simply because they have gotten better, more affordable and powerful, but does that mean the netbook market is far from finished? Acer does not think so, where $297 will net you an Acer Aspire One Happy 2 which has been touted to be a really great value where netbooks are concerned.

Ever heard of Energy before? No? Neither have I, but then better late than never, don’t you think so? Energy is actually part of the Klipsch Group, so from the get go you can more or less be sure that at least some bit of quality is thrown into the mix. The Energy Power EM-2.1 is the brand?s first-ever multimedia speaker system, just in case you were curious. Boasting an easy-to-use, plug n? play product, all you need to do in setting it up would be to plug both the speakers and a computer into the back of the EM 2.1 subwoofer with the provided cables, crank up the volume and enjoy resolute, all-encompassing bass performance.

Ma Bell continues their love affair with RIM’s range of BlackBerry devices, where they will be offering both the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and BlackBerry Torch 9860 smartphones this coming November 6th. Sounds like there will be plenty of activity going on this month, as the new 3G BlackBerry Curve 9360 will also arrive later this month – on November 20th, to be exact.

OK, so we do know that the iPhone 4S is not exactly the toughest smartphone out there as evident by the drop test that we saw it go through with the Galaxy S2, so that can only mean one thing – you would do well to make sure your new iPhone 4S gets the best protection possible at all times. Such a situation would require a trusted name like Otterbox, where their latest effort would be aptly known as the Otterbox iProtection that comprises of four series of custom cases for any Apple fan.

There’s a new Android Market update being pushed out to some handsets recently and it features some significant improvements over the previous version. It brings Android Market up to version 3.3.11 and has options such as auto-update by default for apps, update over WiFi only, auto-add shortcuts to your homescreen after installing an app, a smaller font, a new app drawer icon, voice search, star rating chart on app pages, minor tweaks to the UI and more.
Thanks to the folks at Android Police, you don’t have to wait for the update to be pushed to your phone and you can install it today. Be sure to back up your apps and data in case anything goes wrong ? you never know. This version of the Market is also said to be glitchy on Honeycomb tablets so if you own one, I suggest you stay away from this update for now.
