The Apple iPhone will soon be offered for sale at Target stores. Apple has had partnerships with retailer WalMart and electronics big box retailer Best Buy for some time now, and on November 7th, Target will join the fray with the addition of some 846 Target stores across the U.S. The move by Apple to offer its flagship phone model in Target will help the company expand its reach beyond metropolitan areas where Apple has a strong retail presence with the company's own retail stores. In addition to offering the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 3GS at its stores, Target is also boasting its Electronics Trade-In service, which allows customers to bring in old MP3 players, cell phones, and video games and get credit for any purchase at Target, including the new iPhone 4 offering. Target says that it hopes to offer mobile services at all its stores by mid-2011.

If you want to a car to be more efficient and help to save the planet, you'd want to get one with an EcoMotors engine when they ship according to Don Runkle, EcoMotors CEO. In fact, Runkle is betting that more efficient engines--not hybrid or battery-powered cars--will be the key to making automobiles more clean and efficient. "We unabashedly say that we have the best solution," Runkle says in reference to his company's opposing piston, opposing cylinder engine, which uses fewer parts and generates more power per stroke than a traditional engine. The so-called "opoc" engine is lighter and less expensive, making its transition more feasible and cost effective than the switch to electrical power. Additionally, unlike battery-powered cars, the opoc-based cars can still refuel at traditional gas stations and expensive recharge or battery swapping stations aren't needed.

If you're looking to purchase a 3D television set this television, Consumer Reports advises that plasma may be a better option than its LCD technology rival in that arena. According to the publication, plasma displays offer little ghosting. Ghosting is an issue where sets display "double images that appear even when wearing 3D glasses." The publication finds that "Panasonic plasma sets exhibited the least ghosting of any of the 3D TVs Consumer Reports tested, followed by plasma TVs from LG and Samsung, which had slightly more. Sony's LCD TVs came closest to the plasmas: ghosting was minimal, but only when the viewer's head was kept level; ghosting became severe when the viewer's head was titled even slightly. On the LG and Samsung LCD TVs, images had satisfying three-dimensional depth, but ghosting, which was significant in a wide variety of content, was distracting when apparent." All models tested by the magazine offered "impressive three-dimensional depth," but the issue of ghosting, otherwise known as crosstalk, "also plays a big part in 3D quality." The test examined 14 models of 3D teleivisions.
